If someone has a little bit of intelligence they would never practise any form of religion or worship any kind of god. Worshipping is blindly following a group of people without thinking, it is even worse than terrorism in my opinion.
If you would think for yourself only a little you would instantly loose the desire of being part of a big 'collective' of brainless idiots.

I expect only intelligent replies on this post.

Bird's a real character, no? First he starts a thread in the 'love and sex' area that says he's a good "Catholic" (hahaha)-with a bunch of bishops in his sig pic- and that all us masturbators are going to hell(?!?!?)-later on he started a thread (with the bishops still in his sig) where he told us that he loved to go to old folk's homes and jerk off-then he tells us over here that only atheists are to be considered 'intelligent', and he's got the fat boy in his sig pic-seems like this guy had the bishops in his sig until about a day or two ago-bird is really something, folks. If I had a net, I'd throw it over this old boy.

ps I also am full of hypocrisy - I was reading this post, listening to Nick Caves 'into my arms' - which is a hymn itself, swigging a beer and laughing my socks off at the same time.Doesn't matter what I worship - still seems I'm on a highway to hell

Einstien believed in God, because of his intelligence he claimed later in life that before he learned more about the world he was an athiest. there's a puzzle for ya to ponder.

Now I don't know much about science, but didn't Einstein refuse the probability theory of atoms (or maybe it was the big bang theory. Scientists help me out!) because he didn't believe that God would "play dice". Unfortuantely, he turned out to be wrong due to this belief. But to the original poster, maybe you should read some Aquanius or St. Augustine.

When it comes to that which is beyond the scope of the intellect, it takes far more intelligence to come to some kind of understanding of all of this than it does to deny it even exists in the first place. To not even try to understand is kind of an intellectual cop-out, which is not really a sign of great intelligence.

Of course, you are always free to believe whatever makes sense to you. But if you don't make an honest effort to find real meaning, you will, eventually, be left with whatever the snake-oil salesmen sell you.

Well so far we have concluded that Einstein must have been a moron and that Varuna is a grotesque fatass. In an attempt to add to the overall intelligence level of this thread I submit that king Don's [IMG]are better than twinkies. Also, Thomas Jefferson (though a deist) believed in God but was smart while my friend Ron is an atheist but is as dumb as toast.

I would say rationally there is no reason to believe in a God.

But many intelligent people don't base there spiritual beliefs off of reason.
That doesn't mean that they are not intelligent.

Many smart people believe in ridiculous things for unsmart reasons.

Einstein was not a believer in the Christian "God" as most Christians like to think. Nor was Thomas Jefferson as they like to think.

Stop cherry-picking historical quotes and get the facts.

I am so tired of apologists collecting a bunch of "hits" for their side and completely ignoring the "misses". So typical.

But, what should we expect from a bunch who believe in an invisible Sky Daddy?:H

Einsein could have refused neither since he was involved in the discovery of nuclear energy, which has everything to do with big bang and the probability theory of atoms. Although, he was depressed after the government used his ideals of nuclear energy for war and bombs, which was never his intent.
anyhow I'm off subject now I was just trying to say that intelligence has nothing to do with a persons choosing to follow a religious path and that Einstein being considered one of the most intelligent individuals of the last century was an example.
    love to all.

Man Libertine, you gotta mellow out there. Anyhow, try reading the original post. It was about general belief in God vis-a-vis one's intelligence. It had nothing to do with fundyism. Both Einstein and Jefferson very certainly believed in God but neither was anything like a Christian fundamentalist. Jefferson was a deist while Einstein was Jewish. Do you really think that everybody who ever utter the word "God" in a positive manner were Christian fundamentalists? Sheesh, get a life.

ANY belief in a some ghost man in the sky is fundamentalism to me. It's crackpot.
