I've cleared my gfs closet out and lined the walls with aluminum foil, i have a light in there and four 6-inch diameter pots, i know that the pots will work for the first couple of weeks but will i need to get bigger pots as the plant matures?
from what i ve learned in the last 4-5 months and spending far to many hours on the net reading forums such as these and quite a few "free grow guides" not to mention some ppl i ve talked to who used to grow back in the day thy've all kinda said star out as small as a dixi cup then only make one transfer and make that to a 5 gal. bucket this encouages a lot or root growth witch i believe is good but as i say when giving anyone any tips as much as i would love to think i know exactly what i m doing i m still a newbie i mean right now i have 5 small plants i kept them in too small of containers for far too long because i couldnt transpant at the time w/o getting caught but i now have them in 1-2 gal planters since i put them on the 12/12 cycle to start the flowering process so if you dont mind small plants do as i did but i d like to tell you the size planter depends on how big you wants your plants but keep in mind more soil will hold more water and nut. and that means slightly less maintance hope this helped you out but if anyone dissagrees feel free to correct me since i m new at this as well i just try help ppl out who may know as much or a little less than i do well hope it helped let me know what ya think wpot2006
First off , fuck the tin foil, that isn't doing shit. Just collecting heat. If you have soem money buy soem mylar or if you don't paint the walls flat white. I usally start off with 4 diameter 4 depth for a few weeks till I see which are the strong palnts. Then I move them into 12 By 12 pots and leave them in there.
Like the last thread said tin foil can cause hot spots and burn your plants. Better to paint your walls and ceiling white. As for pots I use 3 gallon buckets (more than adequate) a better idea though is to use square pots these fit together nicely side by side no space wasted. If you can't find any plenty of grow shops sell them on the internet. Like I said though two and a half or three gallon pots is plenty big enough. Generally you want one plant per pot, so if the pots are to big you won't be able to fit the amount of plants you want in your grow space. If growing out side go for a five gallon pot as space isn't limited and you want your plant to grow as big as possible. But indoors two and half to three gallon is whats needed.
What light have you got. Rememeber this is one of the most important things. You can't expect decent plants without the right kind of lighting. HID lights are the best option. A 400W HPS lamp is always a good starter.
HPS at the rate of 50 watts HPS per sq/ft. The most overlooked factor in indoor growing is ventilation. You need flo-through ventilation, which means a powered exhaust and at least a passive intake. The fan(s) need to be installed in-wall. Leaving a closet door open with a fan blowing out ain't gonna cut it. Because the less fresh air in the growspace, the slower the growth will be. Spend $30.00 for a couple of bathroom exhaust-type fans and an hour with a saw; you'll be glad you did (more pot quicker).
