I've seen RooR in headshops all over and I've heard that they're totally awesome, but I was wondering exactly why they are so good.

Also if you know of any other really good bong could you pleace tell me cuz I am currently looking to buy a bong.

alot of headshops also carry bluedots...

i really dont know why RooR's are so expensive.. maybe the glass on glass design.. they are handblown as well.. but i really dont know... its like why is a Bentley more expensive than a Chrystler.. they both look alike.. but one is $30k more

I don't know about these new 'designer' bongs. I mean I'm sure they hit like nothing else, but their overall design looks rather drab and easily breakable, plus I'm sure they only cost like $50 to make, they just jack the price up 200 dollars because of the brand name. However one good thing about RooRs is that they have many OEM upgradable parts, which is great if you like to customize.

When it comes to bongs I'd much rather spend slightly less on a unique triple blown, fumed and colored work of art that hits just as well. We have a few good local glass blowers here, but I don't know if they sell their stuff online.

RooRs are expensive for alot of reasons.
They come in all different sizes and shapes and alot of other things. They are also very customizeable.
You can pick everything from Bowl size, Glass thickness, Tube Length, etc...
You should look on the RooR website.
    www.roor.de

also check out the artical on wikipedia about RooR,
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roor

Personaly, if I could afford one, I would totaly buy one.
But there are plenty of other brands of bongs that make wonderful pieces.
Like AMG or PHX, or whatever.

Things to keep in mind when buying a bong, is to make sure to get something thats Glass on Glass.

If your just gunna smoke normal herb, consider either getting something with multiple chambers, or buy a nice simple piece, then put an Ash Catcher on it.
Its helpful and a good idea to get a relatively simple piece, cause they are easier to clean, they are alot cheaper, and can still be very nice. You can add an ash catcher which will be like an extra $50, and then it will hit as smooth as something that cost almost twice as much.

If you do get a glass on glass one tho, make sure to put a diffuser in it right away, that helps alot.
Also, if you like really nice cold hits, make sure to get an Ice Catcher.

If you still want more ideas, or wanna learn more about it before buying one. Wikipedia has a good artical on bongs which should help your descision.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bongs

Regardless tho, make sure to check out your bong and dont rush your descision, pick and awsome bong, and splurg a little.
Just keep in mind your gunna be using it for a while, so better to get something you really love, than something you just kinda like.

trust me... 5-7mm thick glass.. does not break easily... i have a bluedot aka "designer glass" as you put it... and its 5mm thick.. and that glass is THICK!!! its not gonna break any time soon.. maybe the slide.. but not the tube

most other bongs, like jerome baker, and on that order can be pretty thin near the bubble, and even though some of their designs can run around 400 and up (and i havent seen any models of glass on glass). roor makes their bongs with pyrex, and are extremely thick and i have also heard that the bongs are engineered for smoothest smoke. i personally would never spend that much money on a piece, because getting a smoking device that is that expensive is not really that cost efficient. get a vaporizer! you could get a pretty awesome vape for around $150, and a really good vaporizer for aroung 400-650. next piece i get is definately going to be a vape, as i dont want all that shit in my lungs anymore, and after i tried one of my friends, i dont want to go back.

ah... so because they use a fancy name for Pyrex and their bong name is a german word for pipe... they can charge more?

Roors realy are overpriced, and in a sense you are paying for the name (you can get a bluedot for a little cheaper, and it hits just as good) but they (glass on glass bongs) hit like no other. I have a white label thats 18 inches tall with an ice catcher, diffusor, and 5mm thick glass. Everyone who has hit it agrees it is the best bong they have ever hit. Even though tis a small one the thing is like getting hit in the face with a train. The first time my dealer hit it he took too big a rip (which is easy to do) on my front porch he practically coughed his lung up and then threw up on my lawn. This is a kid who smokes really heavy and can hold his hits.

Basically I am telling you that yes, they are alot of money, but Roors and bluedots are 100% worth it to get. If you can get one.

over all... RooRs and BlueDots are mostly for people who really appreciate fine glass work... im snobish when i come to glass.. i dont like cheap... thin color on the outside glass.. it looks cheap.. and usually is... i only buy thick inside out glass now.. and will only settle for high end glass ware... its just like a wine drinker or a cigar smoker... we prefer fine quality products.. not cheap run of the mill types...
