How to Get Gunk Out of Ear...

I've Had an Ear Infection for Almost a Year...

And It's...For the Most Part...Been leaking Puss...Constantly...

Until I went to Hopital and Had it Cleaned Out...

This Year I've Had an Operation on my Ear...

But Now my Ear Infection has Come Back...

I was Wondering...Is There Anyway to Clean Gunk Out of Ear...'Cause I get Really Scared When Doctors Shove Tube Things Down and Clean them Out...
Plus the Waiting Lists are Seriously Long...

It's making me Feel so Light Headed...And Ill...

 

Most pharmacies have this solution that breaks up wax, and a funny looking pump thing (looks like a small rubber balloon) that sucks the wax out. I don't know if it's recommended to use when you got an ear infection, though. I highly doubt it's recommended if it's not wax that you're having a problem with. Hopefully someone can give some more feedback on that....

However...Dumb Ass Doctor...Decided it was Just a Simple Infection...And Prescribed Antibiotics...When That Didn't Work...He Refused to Give me Anymore...Gave Some Anti Fungal Drops...And Arranged a Hospital Appointment for 5 Months Later!

During the Hospital Visit...I was Found to Have more Ear Problems...And Several Months Later I Had Operation to Correct Hole in Ear Drum...

Now the Infection is Back...Worse Than Ever...

I Just Need to Get the Gunk out of my Ear...

I Can't Express How Much this is Hurting Right Now...

When I was little my mom used to clean my ears on with bobby pins, so maybe you could try that? Though I remember it hurting.. so be gentle.


I had a really bad ear infection once all crusty too. Picking at it was like my hobby. Yeah I'm gross. =P
Yours sounds worse though but similar, try telling your doctor again and maybe they can give you something to clean it with.
When I had mine they gave me some liquid stuff, Acetasol HC (hydrocortisone and acetic acid otic solution USP). I found the bottle.

 

I have this complex where I hate putting things in my ears...q-tips, fingers...anything...it bugs the shit out of me...

I wish there was a way I could clean wax out of my ears without sticking anything in it...

My boyfriend thinks it's so gross that I don't clean my ears out...but I just can't stick anything in there...it makes me nuts.

 

I second the bobby pin thing...although, doctors probably frown on that! Last infection I had, I got a lot of the crap out that way, and it helped with the pain! Since you have a hole in your ear drum, don't do the peroxide idea! Althouogh, that works great for wax if there is no hole in the ear drum. And it sounds neat...or, I think it does, at least. But I'm wierd. LOL - I picked at my ear too last time it was infected, it was kinda fun. But I wouldn't wish for another ear infection just to enertain myself that way...but hey, there's a silver lining to every crowd!

my kiddo had horrible ear infections when he was on cow dairy. switched him to goat milk, and the ear infections disappeared like magic. now he's off of casein altogether though

a few years ago i had a peritonsillar infection (aka quinsy) that felt like the worst earache ever. it was actually referred pain and had nothing to do with my ears at all.

ps, dont put things in your ears. never put anything smaller than your freaking elbow into your ear. do you want to go deaf? seriously...

try this

get some 3% hydrogen peroxide solution down the chemist or supermarket
get a couple of syringes (not with the needle!!!!!!!!) they cost a couple of cents down the chemist, they are about as long and wide as your index finger.
mix up 3% solution and water in a 50 50 mix draw up solution and squirt it into your ear. you'll feel and hear a bubbling sensation, it is the h2o2 reacting with the ear wax and killing infection. squirt and wait for two minutes and let it drain out your ear. do this twice maybe once every couple of hours until all the wax and puss is gone. it sounds radical but try it. there are ear solutions that use hydrogen peroxide already on prescription so take your pick. i would not advocate this treatment as an on going thing
by the way not all doctors want to see you "cured" this is bad for them because you don't come back- a doctor's surgey is like any other business - it needs to see you back some time soon. think about it.
(i've had a cold for the past week and my ears get full of junk , i tried this method last night- so its been tried and tested by me!! i syringed my ears first though))

or

get the syringe and fill it with warm water
turn your ear to the sink (allowing the water to drain out) and gently flush the ear canal with warm water. it will take a few go's to get the wax out. be careful not to use too much force or you'll blow the ear drum. you find after a few goes a crackling sound occurs and the ear canal will become clear. hey presto, in the sink is the largest piece of crap you've ever seen out your ear, flush a few more times. do the other ear. rinse the syringe, make up a solution of one drop tea tree oil and two drops peppermint oil to maybe 40ml of water shake it up to mix it thoroughly. use the syringe to very gently flush the ear canal of both ears with this solution. becareful not not infect a good ear with a dirty syringe, maybe buy a syringe for each ear. you might find after a few minutes that the back of your eyeballs are warming up!! don't worry! this just means that the peppermint and tea tree have suffused across the ear drum and have entered your middle ear and probably your inner ear destroying infection in their path. its a pretty cool feeling!

if you are in as much pain as you say you might have to do this but again take heed syringe gently and the wax will eventually come out.

wax removal drops come in a small bottle with a seringe after letting the wax removal sit as long as you can . you must tilt that ear 1 at a time so the solution does not pour out. then use the syringe with warm water to wash the junk out . how ever make sure is not a nasty infection before you wash them. do this every 3 month and it keeps your ear channel open "less chance of infection returning" but go to the doctor very soon you might need antibiotic before i try the wax removal . about $6.00 for the kit.

antibiotics are only for a secondary bacterial infection. Most ear infections are caused by either a virus or food allergies.

Still Hurts Sometimes...But No pressure Inside Ear at Moment...

I Left it Alone...And the Gunk is Now Dripping Out Constantly...

As Well as Bright Lime Green Stuff...Anyone Know what that is? Mucus?

I Can't Lie on my Right Side as my Left Ear will Become Blocked and Hurt...

So I Lie on Left and Gunk Drips Out Throughout the Night...

And During the Day...Can Feel it Trickling Down my Neck...

I Guess it's Not Going to Clear on it's Own...I Should Go to Doctors...But Not Really Sure What a Doctor Could Do to help...

The Smell is Not too Bad...

Not as Dizzy Anymore...Or Feverish...But the Infection is Still There...

piss in a cup botle whatever,, yer first catch..a few drops of it 3 times a day..

be sure an dispose of the old piss an start a new everyday..

the prescription of my earcandles says not to use it with ear-infections, if anyone wants to try i would recommend to searche for futher information.

and going to the hospital would be a good idea
