French Muslims, Jews launch friendship tour​

French Muslims and Jews launched a friendship tour to strengthen inter-faith dialogue between the two communities, the EJP reported. ​

​

The Muslim-Jewish friendship bus began its route on Friday from Corbeil-Essones. It is scheduled to stop in two weeks in Bagneux.​

Jewish and Muslim volunteers set up a big cardboard sign calling on passer-bys to help them “build the Jewish-Muslim friendship” while handing out leaflets.​

“I was surprised when I read the sign, but it was a good surprise,” said Farihane Larabi, a young Muslim student.​

“I think this is exactly what we need today, when ‘Islamophobia’ and anti-Semitism are on a rise,” Larabi added.​

The friendship tour was organized by Paris Rabbi Michel Serfaty in cooperation with France’s Association de l’Amitié judéo-musulmane [Jewish-Muslim Friendship Association], which was launched in 2004 to foster relations between the country’s Jewish and Muslim communities.​

“Watching these young people debate and give different points of view provides us with great satisfaction. We are catalysts!” Rabbi Serfaty said.​
