i go every year in NYC. Last year has been the best of any preceding it. At the end of the march when we arrived in the park lots of people started smoking pot without harrasment from police and i beleive there were no arrests. woohooo. progress is being made people.
GD cat, there was no police harassment in NYC??? I´m thrilled to hear this. The last time I went to this event was in...let´s see I think it was '01 or ´02, and the cops arrested like 25% of the crowd. Glad to hear they´ve mellowed out a little bit. Is it still in Battery park?? Other than the cops, I had a great time at this event, interesting speakers, great music, and what could be better than a beautiful warm spring day in the park in New York City, huh? I´ve been studying abroad all semester and missing my old New York stompin grounds, it´ll be nice to get back this summer. Have fun everyone.
thats right, no police harassment once we were all in the park. During the march no one smoked because it was out in public and the cops were marching with us so it wasnt wise. Once everyone was in the park the smoking began, and it was very open. The cops didnt come into the park either, they stayed across the street. I remember at one point a cop saying "we dont see anything, we dont smell anything. Have a good time." NYC is starting to look much better as far as marijuana goes.
i can imagine that something that big, cops dont want to get involved... b/c if ne thing big happens, like a small riot or something sparked by law enforcement action, then think of the headlines "Peaceful Legalization March Turned Riot After Police Invade" that would be kinda ironic
well, it happened in prior years. like i said, last year was the first time i saw people smoking openly.
I will be a speaker at the one in Philly. Remember my sisters and brothers, a revolution does not come unspoken! Gather the vibes, gather the tribes and I will see you or feel your energies on saturday!
you went back in the Giuliani regime...pot has become a low, low enforcement priority under Bloomberg
I went to it yesterday and everyone was openly smoking. The cops knew it. I made eye contact with a few cops while I was passing the dutch. But they didn't do anything. It was pretty awesome
No one was smoking at the one in Philly. We were on TV. We got our message passed in an intelligent way.People were cheering us on. At the end there was small drum circle that broke out. It was great!
