Try spraying plants with a mix of pepper and garlic.

Go to the garden center at Walmart or Home depot and tell them the dogs are screwing with your lettuce. They'll sell you a product containing stinky stuff like dried blood, nicotine, naptha etc. . In the pet department is Outdoor No which keeps fido from peeing on the landscaping or your garden. I prefer the vegetable oriented stuff as the manufacturers understand that you're going to injest it someday and don't want the lawyers for your estate suing them because you died of liver cancer from their product. Read the label before you buy. Some of this stuff can be pretty scarey chemicalwise. All of it smells bad so leave a decent interval before harvest.
For bugs. If you don't stress your plants they can handle a normal load of bugs with few ill effects, and more bugs turn out to be OK rather than harmful. If you are having a big loss due to bugs, the first step is to find out what kind of bug is doing the eating. Somewhere in the U. of Texas/agriculture there's going to be a web site (with color pics) for legitimate growers and maybe for gardeners too highlighting whatever bugs are raising hell with crops lately in your part of the state. (Always good to see your tax dollars being put to good use.) Treatment starts with just putting up with them, then picking them off, next is usually insecticidal soap, and you can get as extreme as spraying them with crap you gotta wear a space suit for. Lesser treatment is always better

    im guessing your growing outside?

maybe put a fence around it or something?

fishheadbob is right to, go to walmart, and pick it up, it work's really good for dog's

with bug's i would just pull it all

unless you only find a few, then try to save them, dont spray anything because it will affect it after it is flowered and cued and dried

but i would pull it even if i saw a few bug's because they will most likely leave egg's and destroy the plant, but that's just me

Getting rid of bugs is a long process that starts with identifying the pests. You need to read a grow book.

-Don't use blood, that attracts animals.
-Pulling up plants because they have bugs is like burning your house down because you have roaches.
-Dogs don't bother pot (unless you use blood). If you're worried abiut dogs pissing on plants erect a barrier out of sticks and plastic wrap.

If you grow pot outside they will get bugs. Some bugs are beneficial (like spiders), only some are detrimental (spider mites, whiteflies).
