Question Authority. I'd say 3/4 of the laws are bad laws. Laws which are against physical violence, theft and/or discrimination are good laws. Constitutional laws are good. Most of the rest... bullshit.
most laws seem to be made to protect really stupid people or to give enforcement something else to add on to you to make things worse. I respect the law till I cant see em anymore, lol
Alexis de Tocqueville belived that the small petty laws in American society caused men to loose faith in themselv, and to make us weaker and more pliable. In fact he said "I would be brought to belive freedom less nessacary in great things than in lesser ones". Me, I never respect the law, I can't think of any I obey just because there is a law against it
Вопрос, котор вы спросить о законах будет что как будет вы делаете влияющ на другие людей наилучшим образом. Большинств вещи противозаконо противозаконы потому что они влияют на безопасность или добро других.
Exactly. I have really lost any respect that I might have had for this country's laws or for the legal system. This has become one of the most regulated societies on earth. I know plenty of people that came here from different countries that swear that they had a lot more freedom where they came from than they do here. The legal and penal system here has become a big profit making business, thanx to Ronald Reagan. The concepts that a person is innocent until proven guilty, that the burden of proof is on the accuser, or that a defendant needs to be proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, have all been completely thrown out the window. Do I respect the law? Absolutely not.
I believe that some laws are necessary and some are unnecessary. The problem is: who gets to decide which laws are and which aren't? I really think that most actions must be based on personal choice, not simple compliance with laws. Questioning authority is awesome, questioning everything is awesome, but my problem comes in when everything has been questioned and nothing holds water anymore. Is anarchy the answer if no authority is suitable?
agree with everything above.. plus I only believe in laws that protect people from each other(physically), not laws that try to protect people from themselves, unfortunately the legal system is clogged with the latter. Which makes sense the legal system is profit driven. Socially, I respect libertarian laws and policies. suicide - pro-choice abortion - pro-choice drugs - pro-choice censorship - self-censorship, don't like what you see than look the other way, and if you don't like what you hear than turn your ears off, your intolerance should not command my actions, and thoughts. Economically, I respect liberal laws and policies.
what about things like speeding? running red lights? slower speeds in school zones? water conservation(can't water your lawn 7x a week)? etc etc etc. there are a lot of *little* laws like these which are important...
I do not. I follow my own moral compass. As was said before, I can't think of any laws I obey just because they are law. I do what's right. That being said, there are a lot of small laws that matter sometimes, but are overly enforced. For example: red lights. Great tool. But if no one's coming ad you run one: ticket. Why? You didn't do anything wrong. A lot of it is enforcement, rather than the law itself. But of course, there are hundreds of bullshit laws. I don't mean to defend them at all.
