May 6-9, 2006 Kimbercote – near Collingwood, ON – about 2 hours from Toronto This event follows from the Forest Defence gathering which took place in May 2004 near Dorset, Ontario. It is independently organized and geared toward building a more radical forest defence and environmental movement in Ontario. The gathering will be several days of workshops, trainings and networking. The theme of the gathering will centre around engaging and challenging participants with respect to approaching environmentalism within an anti-oppressive framework and linking forest destruction to other forms of domination. Workshops will also be geared toward practical organizing skills, techniques and strategies, and hands on tactical skills like tree-climbing, blockading and direct action. This event is open to anyone with an interest in forest defence! We hope to provide a space where activists of all backgrounds can come together to work toward building a grassroots forest defence movement in the province. Core trainings will take place over Saturday and Sunday. Those who are really enthusiastic or inspired have the option of staying on for the Monday and Tuesday for more comprehensive workshops/trainings building on skills developed over the weekend. http://www.forestdefence.com/
