I'm gunna be a little different here.......At both my mom's and my dad's places, we were always DIScouraged from barefeet inside...they both say that the oils in your feet ruin the carpet.......... that's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.........if we were meant to wear shoes all the time, we'd have been born with them......... When my dh and I lived in our apartment, it was free reign.....he was always nude with socks on, and I was always dressed with barefeet......together, we were either one very naked person or one over-dressed person...... we're renting the basement at my mom's....so we're all over-dressed right now, but we'll be back in our own place soon enough and back to our old ways.......
I had an Aunt that used to say the same thing about the oil in your feet. My dad used to sit in the same chair with barefeet and it did leave a spot on the carpet. Of course, it could have been worn from him placing his feet there all the time.
Hey id rather ruin the carpet than have to wear shoes. I dont get why people fuss about the carpet anyways its gonna get worn out from all that walkin on it sooner or later anyways so people shouldnt fret about silly stuff and just let people be comfortable and enjoy life.
When I was living at home, my parents were often barefoot inside the home and in the backyard. I've pretty much kept that tradition in my place.
I'm always barefoot at home, but no one else in may family is...they all wear socks or shoes. When not at home I just wear shoes, no socks. I hate socks.
Yes, socks are useless and quite annoying. Its not a good idea to wear shoes inside because they get the floor dirty and in some places its more respectful to remove one's shoes in someone's home. So yeah just go barefoot and dont worry what people say. Barefeet and feet without socks are alot cleaner than feet with shoes/socks on.
i guess i find it odd that people get a lot of crap for not wearing shoes, at my house its not an issue. . . if you want to wear shoes thats fine, and if ya dont no one notices/cares. . . ive never been a fan of shoes myself, and usually just wear them at work (stupid company policy) and keep flip-flops in my car for the occasions i need to throw something on my feet (though im not sure why ppl see a difference in flip-flops and barefeet??????)
Outside, my gf was not warm to the idea at first, but she's used to it. My mom's a bit embarassed and makes some comments, but she still go out with me. Inside, I grew up in a house where shoes were not allowed. It was socks, slippers or barefeet. So I'm not shocking anyone.
There is no problem in my family with barefeet. In fact I grew up thinking it was weird when people didn't take thier shoes off as soon as they came into thier house or someone else's house. Cause everyone in my family did that. Even my friends families did that. And outside, barefeet didn't matter. It's always been your feet your choice kinda thing. I never really knew that it was a big deal (I thought it was normal for people to go without shoes) until a few years ago when my fiance mother about had a heart attack when she seen I was outside without *gasp* shoes! Then I had to hear the whole "didn't your mother teach you to wear shoes?" Which got my reply of "umm no, she goes outside without shoes too." Yeah, apparentlly my mother is a bad mother for that. lol Should of heard her when she saw me step foot outside in my PJ's. That was a blast. Even more so when she found out I go to the grocery store in my PJ's sometimes. Can't wait to see her reaction when she relize that I don't match my socks either. Does it really matter if your socks on your feet match? I only wear them to work and nobody can see them. I make sure the thickness of them is the same or close. Just diffrent colors. People they like to get uptight about everything and anything.
I'm nearly always barefoot, except at work, where I wear tennis shoes, and places where they require shoes (stores, etc.) where I wear flip flops. My parents used to always try to make me wear shoes in the house, but they gave up after a while. They still don't like me going around barefoot outside either, but I've done it so often that the skin on the bottoms of my feet is really thick; I don't feel much. Unfortunately I'm from wisconsin where we get real cold and snowy winters, and I don't go out barefoot much then. In the house though - always.
I'm almost always bare footed at home... when it's cold i do wear fluffy doggy slippers ... but i like the feeling of my feet on carpets, floors and stuff like that...My mom is also mostly bare footed...
growing up, my mom was barefoot a lot, even outside. she's got some seriously tough soles; i'm always amazed at what she can walk on (rocks, hot asphalt) and not even flinch. needless to say, my going barefoot was never an issue. i have a friend whose parents don't allow shoes on in their house, and i've adopted that for myself in my house.
It's not a problem in my house. Everybody in my family is barefoot in my house at some point, it just depends on what they feel like, although I never wear socks inside. I don't even wear underwear/boxers under my trousers anymore. I don't think my mum has a single pair of socks, because she doesn't have any trainers. I wish we could live in a world where it is normal to be naked.
my mom barefoots a lot and she has super tough soles so obviously theres no problem with me going barefoot. my dad always wears shoes and socks, even inside which is so annoying when he comes in from outside with his muddy shoes on and my brother usually at least wears socks too cause he doesnt want to seem like a hippie lol. i rarely get flak for not wearing shoes. when i was younger kids would try to insult me by calling me a hippie which, of course, i never took offense to the only comments i get now are things like "arnt your feet cold?" or "doesnt that hurt?". not very many people bf here but most people seem to accept it. it might have something to do with the fact that this is a coastal town and in the summer, the beach is everyones destination. then i usually see a few people in town w/o shoes on.
