The Garden of Eden: Adam eats furit. By this action says he can decide whats right and whats worng for himself. God has options: 1. Destory Satan, Adam, and Eve and start over. 2. Big plan involving chosen people, son's death, resurrection, and paradise God chooses #2 Why?: By doing this God settles the fact that he alone has right to rule the universe, he makes the rules, men must follow these rules. Shows that his way is the best way by allowing suffing and testing of humans. Shows Hendoism is futile. Shows that HIS WAY is the only way to him. My problem: God has the right to rule anyway. Why does he have to prove his point by making all of us suffer and, for the unlucky faithless, live only to die because they lived their life in sin, though they may have rejected because the world is subjective to the point of view of the one exprencing it. Also faithful go on to live for an enturity. They are happy 24 hours a day. Sure thats nice but whenever I try to any kind of fun, it is in someway polluted by sin, so sin is fun, acording the black and white reasoning of literal/semi-literal interpritaions. So, we basicly would be high doing "pure" actvitys which inculed:Singing praies to god, eating and talikng about god, painting pictures of nature, and sports with no compptive nature to them. I do not know how this can't get boring. Can there be good without bad anyway? And by subjecting us to this he basicly gives us free will and then tells us not to use it.
to me the point is being taught i.e. lessons and learning though experience and most of all love. when I did something that could harm me or others my parents punished me and I learned the lesson do not harm yourself or others. Also, through care and teaching my parents manifest love, they did not want me harmed nor did they want me to harm others. This is just my personal belief in no way intended to offend anyone. love.
Going to hell (I assume that's the simile you're making) isn't a punishment. Punishment is intended to alter future behavior. Going to hell is forever, and future behavior doesn't change that, so that's not it's point. My view is that if god is as described by christianity and/or the bible, then he's an illogical and sadistic jerk. Since I don't believe that quality would be demonstrated by a divine or perfect being, I do not believe in that god.
