Ok so I had a killer virus on my comp, was using 2000 and formated everything. I reinstaled with ME and now if I try to copy/paste any files explorer crashes. I've run all the updates and it still does it. HELP!!!!!!!!!

Graphics Drivers. ME doesn't support a few Graphics cards, and "Windows Explorer" needs them to do what you're trying to do. "Drag'N'Drop".
The next time 'I' have to reformat, I'm going back to Windows 98 SE. It was THE most stable OS out there.

Get ME off your system ASAP :) its the most horrible OS I have ever had to work with. 2000 is much more stable, any MS OS of the NT line is gonna be alot more stable and compatible. Run XP if your system can handle it, I've had over a month of up time with XP Pro.

XP Pro is quite stable. if you're sys can't handle that i suggest that you go with 2K like psilo said. it's a good stable OS. try to avoid XP home though, it likes to send little packets to MS if you have any pirated software on your box... not that i do.... i mean.... that's.... wrong and .... i need to stop now.

I'm posting this late but I wanted to confirm that Win ME is THE WORST OS to use. I had to manually manage my systems memory all the time to eliminate crashes and freeze ups. Everything about that program was way more complicated than need be. The best thing I got out of it was all of the knowledge from having to learn all of the intricate details every thing I did. I would suggest not downgrading to 98. Yes it was / is stable but a lot of software and drivers that work with 98 will not work with XP. Some if they do give you limited use. For example my perfectly fine HP printer only gives me half the settings it did before because there are no XP drivers associated with it. Some of my software is not compatible and although it may have installed anyway, I skipped over most things because they weren't too important to put on there. I currently use XP Pro because I was told that it was more stable than the home version. I think it works great and I love the set up and layout of everything. My sister on the other hand hates it and has it laid out as best she can to match v98. She doesn't know a whole lot about computers or how they work but she feels that v98 was the easiest to use. To each their own but I love XP.
