some of you people probably have read about this, will you get it when it comes out? what do you think of them making a new one? Have you heard about them making a movie? I think its great taht they are making a new one. At first i was sad when i read that they wern't doing multiplayer, cause that is the best. And the movie would totally kick ass.
Doom 3 looks like the best FPS in awhile. I mean, fucking fuck, just look at these: http://us.f2.yahoofs.com/bc/40fd8108_418c/bc/My+Documents/doom2x.jpg?bfpRzBBBL3nB0DTL http://us.f2.yahoofs.com/bc/40fd8108_418c/bc/My+Documents/doom3x.jpg?bfpRzBBBPaX3Ptyl edit: Heh, looks like the last two were too big to fit on the forums directly. Besides Half-Life 2, this game is quite possible the sweetest piece of gaming eye candy I've ever seen, ever. I've been brushing up my skills re-playing Half-Life and Call of Duty recently so I'm not out of practice when I buy it. Plus, this game prompted me to finally upgrade my graphics card, I just bought an ATI Radeon 9200 online the other day, just so I could play this. And who said there wasn't going to be multiplayer? Check gamespot: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/doom3/index.html?q=doom+3 supposedly it's online.
Yeah, that game just looks... amazing. It's probably not gonna be scary though. FPS never are. Silent Hill, now that was a scary fucking game.
Silent Hill = best survival-horror ever. Probably because action and horror really don't go well together, and Silent Hill's gameplay isn't focused on action, the battle system is intentionally cumbersome. Plus, it's hard to be scared with a chaingun and rocket launcher at your disposal. I actually wrote a review of SH3 on my site, found here.
I second your plug. A great review for a great game. And yeah, when you're shooting at some fucked up bloody monster with a rail gun, it's not really very scary.
Cant wait till it comes out. Unfortunatly my card is on the blitz and in the procces of an rma. Currently I am runnign an old GF3. Don't think my card will handle it. As far as the guy buying a 9200, why not pick up a 9800 for 149 on ebay? Plenty of them floating around and that would more than own the graphics from Doom 3 and HL2.
That was me, and the card only cost $37. Unfortunately after a quick search on Google it turns out I'll only be able to run the game on the low setting. Guess I got what I paid for..... I'll probably just sell my new one on ebay and buy another, the difference shouldn't be too much. And besides, not having food for the next few days is an easy enough sacrifice to be able to play Doom 3 the way it was meant to be played.
From what I'd read in a Carmac interview, DIII will actually have a more horror-ish theme integrated into the level design; this time you won't be knocking down hundreds of monsters at a time, but they'll more or less "jump out" at you from the shadows. Either way, looks fan-fucking-tastic and I can't wait for the 3rd to roll around.
and now you gotta worry about your shadow and all that, with the monsters seeing it. THATS GUNNA BE CRAZY!
Hopefully Doom 3 won't try and be like Resident Evil, which is all "boo" type scares. If I have a shotgun and a rocket launcher, it's hard to efraid of things that go bump in the shadows, becuase I know I can kick it's ass. If they tried the psychologial horror approach like in Eternal Darkness and Silent Hill, then that would be a very scary game given the graphical capabilities.
D3 has been something i've been looking forward to for quite some time. and from roumors i've heard, it's comming out this month. aug. 8th or 12th.... something like that. for more info hit www.gamershell.com
Actually, Doom 3 hits stores tomorrow: http://www.gamespot.com/finder/findgames.html Hope you already bought your new graphics card.
