I just heard a "commercial" on my college's radio station reminding people to take care of their animals and give them the attention they need because it's no fun to sit at home bored all day just waiting for your owner to come home and then have no attention even when they do get home. I'm going to let the radio station know how happy I am that they're airing something like that! Makes me think back to early high school, when I'd come home all stressed out from stupid school stuff, and there would be my pup Mojo, staring at me like, "HEY! Aren't you taking me outside for a walk??" I don't see how anyone can avoid giving attention to their animals... coming home and showering love on Mojo was the highlight of my day! Well, hopefully those commercials will prompt mean people to treat their pets better.

My old dog Puppy was that kind of friend. I had her since she was 5 months old-she died Tuesday morning-she was old and half-crippled and kinda senile, but she was a real good friend-I buried her in the back yard, and it'll take a long time to get used to her not being around. When some people saw how attached I was to her, they would say, "she's just a dog.."-I'd reply, "no, YOU'RE just a dog-she's my friend!" People that have the attitude that "it's just an animal" usually hit the road when the going gets rough-it's good old loyal dogs like her that stick around through thick and thin.

i think that is great. a dog can be perfectly heathly but you still must ask the question "is he happy?". we have a responsibility to keep our animals as happy as they should be healthy and curbing bordem is a huge part of that. i dont understand why people have dogs if they dont want to walk them or play with them or love on them all the time. esp those people who have dogs and make them live outside! that pisses me off like nothing else. there was a dog in my neighborhood who's family made him live out in a kennel. he would spend all day and night howling and barking. sometime's he's escape and everytime would come to my house because he knew he would get some love and attention. i wanted to offer them money to take him but my dogs did not like him and so i couldnt risk it.

wow... yeah i totally hate that too when people make their dogs stay outside... i remember when i was maybe fifteen? (around there) there was a dog always kept in a pen outside on my street....i didnt like it but it didnt REALLY upset me to an extreme degree until we got a horrible snow storm.... im talking a foot of snow, below freezing temperatures, stuff like that...

i ended up walking two blocks to a local convenience store and the dog was out in his pen!!!! i could not believe it. also he had very little food so i bought dog food at the store and fed it to him and came back the next day and fed him again....

come to think of it i prolly should have called animal control or something but i wasnt sure what to do then but it broke my heart.
