Im growing off a very wet river bed , the water table only reaches about 1 - 2 feet deep so digging a 3' hole wouldnt be possible. My idea was to dig 2' holes for each plant but start them in large buckets then when the roots outgrow the container I would just cut the buttom off and sit them on top of a smaller hole where the roots could grow from the bottom of the buckets and extend to the holes. Sound like a good idea?

The roots of marijuana like to dry out between waterings.
The roots don't grow (or grow very slowly) in constantly saturated soil.

OK not a weed growing man but it sounds to me like you need to build some sort of raised flower or plant bed.

You know just a big wooden box full of soil on top of the ground that you plant in instead of the ground.

That was what I had in mind but do you think even if the plant is elevated in a bucket with the bottom cut out so the roots can grow into the ground it would stay dry enough to have good root growth or would it just soak up water from the damp ground?
