I've seen maybe one other member represent in here, what the fuck?!?! All you poser "anarchists" out there, nows the time to step up to the plate and show why Anarchist Philosophy works and how it can better peoples lives. Jesus, I feel like i'm shouting into an empty cave...
I'm not an anarchist. But I would like to ask a question about anarchism. What about community actions? Like street maintainance, sewer systems and fire departments? How would anarchists achieve the good of these now goverenment controled activities? Is it different than the ultra-libertarian private enterprise model for community activity? Thank You
Community action doesn't need centralized authority to be carried out: http://infoshop.org/faq/secA2.html#seca23 I'm not sure what the "ultra-libertarian private enterprise model for community activity" is so it's not something i should comment on. If it's profit-driven then no. Anti-state does not equal anti-organization. There are already communtiy groups out there that are a terrific model to go by (religious community groups for instance).
I do consider myself an anarchist but I mainly frequent these forums in order to learn from others and get different points of view. If I see a chance to give my opinion, then I'll give it. But mainly I just read what others have said and form my own ideals.
Here's a hint: this IS your chance! You have a whole damn forum dedicated to Anarchy! Your sig says Educate Yourself, but anarchism is about educating others as well. “I am truly free only when all human beings, men and women, are equally free. The freedom of other men, far from negating or limiting my freedom, is, on the contrary, its necessary premise and confirmation.” - Mikhail Bakunin Take the opportunity.
I do intend to educate others, but I also intend to know what I'm talking about. I've only gotten seriously interested in Anarchy during the summer when I found out it was actually something others were into as well. I still have a lot to read and I learn new things everyday (especially the Anarchist Faq which I've been reading little by little for the past few months. I can still see my ideas evolving so I'd rather educate myself first before I attempt it on other people.
I'm not a poser Anarchist. I'm learning. Sorry to let you down Shane on the "Capitalism is Utopian" idea (if you we're expecting me to follow in your footsteps). I have not been in the mental capacity to stage such an argument without throwing my computer across the room. You'll be pleased to know however that I have been through an enlightening week and am feeling quite anarchistic at the present time, so much so I put a halt to my hipforums break just to contribute or learn a little from the anarchism forums.
Sorry if sounded defensive, pro-capitalists and communists try to trp me all the time. All i can say is, i live in a capitalist culture. When i buy anything i'm supporting it. And you can't just make everything (i dont have a dairy farm in my backyard for example). Until theres a culture change i just have to be less consumer driven than most... but i dare anybody to say they dont contribute to the system at all.
I hate the sectarianism of the left, i still regard a left wing anarchist as a comrade, and hope they would do the same back
do you claim nothing would get done if no one told you to do it? the concept that society cannot function without a ruling body is completely possible. Anarchism is not about a lack of order, but a manifestation of true liberty. Anarchy is not chaos, but rather a harmonious society based on voluntary agreement of the individual.
This is one of the dumbest, most held on to, entirely illogical ideas that ever plagued the human race..... Can anyone tell me how rigid hierarchies and governments that allow excessive power to fall in the hands of MEN..... are actually working?
