a while ago back i considered myself very liberal, and got really angry about what bush was doing. and how america was just fucking up in general, but recently i've kind of changed my thinking on politics. i just don't really care about the minor injustices going on in the government anymore, politicians have been fucking up for a very long time and that will most likely never change. it doesn't matter which party has political power at the moment, becasue it's all kind of trivial. i'm still against all the things i was against - but now i see politics as nothing more than a way for rich people to control us. and they do it very well, get us thinking about inconsequential things such as race, religion, age, sexual orientation, and political views. so now i don't care which rich, white, old guy is going to try to control me next, it's outside of my control. i don't feel that i can really change any of it, except on a personal basis - maybe try to convince some of my pro-bush classmates that for whatever reason, prejudice and killing is wrong. (most of my classmates are those 'yee haw let's kill some brown people'/'faggots are gross' type people). i feel that would be a better way to change things, rather than protesting in the conventional way. so now i've found myself as more libertarian than anything else. i don't really give a shit if you're a democrat or a republican, it's just two different groups trying to control you. i'm not really sure what my point is - i'm still trying to get my thoughts lined up i guess.
actually, some of my friends have been discussing it lately and i was thinking about reading it. where might i find it? cool sig. quote by the way
im kinda like that now cause im tired of trying to care about the state of politics.. its not like it matters anyways.... they are all the same
"Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few..."- Winston Churchill's address to the House of Commons at the height of the Battle of Britain
if you didn't know that the correct word was apolitical, your political views probably weren't all that important anyway.
You don't care that the man in charge lied to get us into an illegal war? You don't care that the current foreign policy is helping cultivate extremism that will bear its fruit in the next 10-15 years and beyond? That the seeds of future terrorist acts are now germinating in Dumbya's victory garden? You don't care that the current administration is aiding and abetting a national crime of gasoline price gouging but subsidizing with our tax dollars corporations that are showing quarterly profits in the BILLIONS of dollars and our so-called LEADER insists that there is no evidence of improprieties in the way the oil giants are doing business????? It is YOUR attitude that enables the criminals in office to do what they do... the defeated apathy that it doesn't matter who is in office and worse, that these are LITTLE offenses! These are crimes that rival the worst misadventures of organized crime-- worse really because they are being committed by the people in charge of this country- MORE money has been pilfered from MORE hard working people to enrich greedy corporations and fatten campaign coffers- people are being KILLED in an ILLEGAL war initiated on false pretenses spelled out in seperate acts of PERJORY to Congress and the United Nations by no less that George Bush himself and YOU dismiss this all as a misdemeanor... bear in mind that it is many of the same players who now have blood and ill-gotten money on their hands who DEMANDED a sitting President's head on a platter because he got a BLOW JOB in the Oval Office. These are not minor injustices... there is major fraud taking place in the form of price gouging and our government counts on apathetic attitudes like YOURS to reassure them that they can get away with it. My opinion... not only should their disembodied heads adorn long wooden sticks but the heads of every moron who stood by and said nothing while the crimes unfolded. It's time people got good and PISSED OFF at being skullfucked by the very people who are SUPPOSED to be looking out for our best interests... These are NOT minor infractions and should NOT go unanswered.
unpolitical - Not politically structured, oriented, or focused; not interested in politics. even if it's incorrect grammar... fuck you. and stinkfoot, it's not that i'm not pissed off it's just that i feel kind of hopeless to do anything about these things. so i rant about how pissed off i am about how innocent people are being killed, and the rich people are running off with even mroe money. what have i changed? and i think holding a sixteen year old for the state of our political climate is a little extreme. and i'm against any type of radicalism. and furthermore - if you'd actually read what the fuck i said instead of the title of the thread, you'd have seen that i'm not apathetic at all. i'm just not going to go to marches or rant about how we need to murder every politician. i'm going to try to convince apathetic people that they are getting fucked over. i've managed to do it with several of my friends already - they listened to whatever their mom & dad & president told them and believed all of it. the way i see it, helping one person see that they should question things is better than bitching on the internet.
My rant is at everyone who chooses not to do anything because they "feel powerless". If an internet rant can open the eyes of just one person then it will have been worthwhile. I did read what you wrote and while you certainly didn't reflect satisfaction at the status quo you reflected a certain resignation with the powers that be shared by many who ARE of voting age... which is exactly what empowers the government to continue to pursue their faulty policies. Yes, you are 16 and not of voting age... but in 2 years you will be- in time to help elect the next president. It's time to be pissed- yes... it's high time more people got majorly pissed. People need to find out how their government is screwing them.
To the original poster, you sound cynical and pathetic. Sorry, if you're not concerned, you're stupid.
I am most definately concerned - and sorry if i'm not as optimistic about the power of the people as the rest of you. it's just how i am. and being cynical implies that i approach things with skepticism, which is a good thing to me.
Actually......to put it more accurately, you're pessimistic and lazy, skepticism would imply that you have a reason to be concerned. In short, you know, but you've made excuses to prevent you from having to act because "its too hard", but you're probably bound to change. I actually went through a similar thing, sort of a half conscious decision to be a nihilist because essentially it doesn't matter, but it hit me like it hits a lot of people who know, that it DOES MATTER.... So, I seriously suggest with all the urgency that I can muster that you start thinking, start moving and looking around you and taking every opportunity you can to prepare you to be a better person, it gets harder every year you grow older......so right now you're lucky!
whell i'd rather be mistaken for a liberal then a concervative, but i prefer not to put any sort of idiology or anything else ahead of the kind of world we all have to live in and i't be a hell of a lot happier if more other people didn't either. hells bells, this earth would BE heavin if people didn't do that. that and thought a little more about what they were doin and the kind of world the're makin by doin it. =^^= .../\...
