I am actually looking for help from any individual who knows about citizen action against passed bills in the state legislature process. I understand that if a bill is passed the citizens have the right to petition, but after the petition I do not know where an individual should take the petition. In my state I know that if you get a lengthy enough petition the city or state is then allowed to voted in place of the legislature. This is what I want to do in my state there is a very large population of people in the state who are against the new conceal and carry bill that was passed. the bill was vetoed by the governor, but overturned by the legislature. Now we need to figure out how to get it so that the citizens can vote not the legislature because in this situation the legislature has not voted on behalf of the citizen. Anyhow, I was wondering if any one had any information on how to go about this type of situation because I am afraid to live where concealing and carrying weapons is allowed. I know that kansas was only one of four states that had no conceal and carry law,but that is the reason our crime has been falling for the 10 years. so any help is welcome to get rid of the step back in the wronge direction.
    peace.

You need help badly i sugest a good head shrink . every state that conceal weapons license were issue = violent crime went down . also getting a conceal weapon license is not like buying a rock concert ticket. criminals well carry them regardless of any LAWS.

thanks for being so nice about disagreement. I would like you to prove that states with conceal and carry have less crime. Part of the committee meeting process was the evidence to legislators was that conceal and carry states had more crime than our state and the other non conceal and carry states have. I'll do some more research and get back to you, but will not be getting my shrunk what a violent process all that head squeezing. :)

I used to be liberal on guns and I understand the liberal argument against guns, but guns like anything can be used positively to protect or negatively to hurt, harm, kill, and abuse others.

I understand why people want to have guns and i don't oppose be able to own guns and have them in your home for hunting or protection, but I don't want to take my children to dinner in a resurant or out to the park and somebody be packin' heat beside us. I am scared to death of guns and more guns to me means more possibility of them being fired on pupose and on accident.
I have two young cousins in a grave due to people with guns and license to own them, so to me it's very hard to see a reason for carrying a weapon around under your shirt. I may be biased because of my fear of guns. I have grown up seeing the dangers of guns and for me it has been enough.
and i'm really looking for help with legislative proceedure for the citizens of a state. (I'm gonna keep researching)

The process you're describing in Kansas of petitioning the legislature doesn't exist in Texas at all. We have a very undemocratic system here-an amateur legislature that meets for 3 months every two years-the bills get pushed through the legislature by a bunch of good old boys with no real chance for public debate-a whole bunch of laws (that we're expected to obey) get pushed through the legislature, and the legislators go back home and eat barbecue. Yeeha. My suggestion is don't spend a whole lot of time looking on the Inernet and tearing your hair out looking for sommething you probably won't find-instead, go to a university and talk to a political science professor that specializes in Kansas government. You should get your answer pretty quickly that way. Good luck, sunshine.

people are going to be less likely to mug a dude on the streets if he may have a weapon on him, and they are gonna go runnin if they see him whip it out

    simple logic.

the problem is not the people who legally carry (in fact I know many people that like to practive this right who have never committed a crime, no including marijuana laws), it's the people who do it illegally

John Lotts paper for many years has been the only available source for crime rates and conceal and carry relationship. There are now other sources becoming available and I must say that this site is just as biases as Lott who is a supporter of NRA, but from the other side but there are statistics. I will research more unbiased sources today.
I would like to add that the crime rate of our state has been on a steady decline for the past 10 years with out any form of CCW. Proving that there are methods of crime control and prevention without allowing more guns on the streets.
DQ Veg- that sucks about your legislative system in Texas. I am going to speak with my old poly sci. professor since i remember how most everything works, but I have forgotten a few steps and such in the process for instance where I take my petition when complete. I'm just gonna go get that. I suppose more than anything I wanted ideas of where to begin from someone who had been involved in a protest/law change.

Hmmm...someone approaches me in a parking lot armed demanding my money/car/girlfriend I think I'll dial 911 and see if they can help me out, not....you people not experienced with guns would probably say just give them what they want. So what if thats not enough? There are ruthless people out there that do not have any qualms about killing especially if they have done it before, and I refuse to let myself or someone close to me become a victim. I will be getting my concealed carry as soon as possible. Responsible law abiding gun carrying citizens decrease the risk of violent crime. In the UK where all forms of gun possession are illegal, criminals haven't much to worry about when picking who they will rob or attack. Criminals will conceal and carry guns regardless of how many ballot initiatives you construct or how scared you are of guns.....we simply propose to level the playing field. I think that if you polled various law enforcement agents more of them would be in support of a structured concealed carry licensing initiative for citizens than not. If not then they are probably power hungry pigs who don't really give a shit about your well being in the first place (READ...generalization). I will concede that there are positives and negatives to each issue; guns are dangerous period....but the question remains do we want to give in to criminals who flaunt the law anyway by not allowing peaceful law abiding citizens to protect themselves? By the way, I think that more should be added to the CCW licensing process including a more extensive training regimen and fairly periodic check ups of those with licenses to make sure they have been within the law in all aspects. I have been around guns all my life and have been taught a very strict form of responsible use so maybe Im a little biased on the issue but Im stubborn so theres my 2 cents. Sorry for the rant, and sunshine I still respect your opinion but I have to disagree and feel that your efforts could be directed towards a more worthy cause.

Guns have no other purpose than to take life.

    Are you God?

Carry a gun and you cann't call yourself a child of peace.

All those people in the middle east aren't being killed by flowers.

    What about target shooting?

Who is to say who is god and who is not?

If you use your gun to keep peace then, yea, you can.

My preference is the matte black finish - reflections are not Good.
Wished the DAK option had been available when I purchased mine.
Why? Court room red herring elimination.

    Replaced the factory sights w/
Trijicon Night Sights - no action/ feed ramp work required.

Not my favorite to shoot but it just keeps working regardless...
