Boise is getting so crazy. We've probably stayed too long. The conservative mindset here is just bumming us out. We're looking for a place the "haters" haven't discovered yet. Would like to just chill. Right now I'm a contractor at HP, but I'm getting burned out on the techno stuff. We would just like to find somewhere that people still have the old ways (love your neighbor, everyone works together, etc.) We're thinking Washington, Oregon, North Cali...
    Anyone know some good places?

North coastal California or Oregon is your best bet, but there are rednecks everywhere.

Vanessa, Thanks for your kind words. I can't say enough about her.(I've had nothing but love for her 28 years now) We travel because we love seeing/learning new things.
We generally hear of a place from friends, find jobs there, then move. Not overly concerned about the type of work. I've been a carpenter, farm worker, motel clerk, truck driver, roughneck, outdoor photographer, auto mechanic, radio DJ, and many others jobs. Work is always nice when you find it, no matter what kind of work. Having an interesting place to work is a bonus.

    Vanessa,
When I was but a young lad of 8 years, my mother remarried. She married a wonderful man that had a farm. (he was also a mechanic and welder) You see, my mother had 5 children. (3 girls-2 boys) The farmhouse had 2 bedrooms downstairs but an empty upstairs. He handed me a hammer and a tool belt, and said "come on number 1 son, let's build some walls" Over the next 10 years, he taught me to build, farm, repair engines, and weld. When I graduated from high school, I was ready to be a "productive adult". I met Becci that summer, but I was scared to ask her out on a date or be anything but friends. We were close friends for 13 years before I asked her to marry me. (I was afraid that if the marriage didn't work, our friendship would end)
I was so wrong. It's actually better, because our marriage didn't just work-it thrived.
As it turns out, she liked to travel too. (she just did not know it)
Argentina sounds heavenly. Still "wide open spaces" there?
Becci loves waterfalls. That's one of the things we liked about Idaho when we came here. We may have to visit Argentina sometime. Does everyone speak Spanish?
Oh, I forgot that you asked me about music. I like Phish, The Grateful Dead, Hot Tuna, or just about anything from the late 60's/early 70's. I worked at 2 radio stations. One station played Country Western Music, and the other played Rock Music from the 1960's, 70's, and 80's.
I have enjoyed this conversation so much.
    Thank You
Love and Best Regards to You my friend

    Allen

If your looking for a place, check over at The Personal Forums, The Waysharing thread. They are looking for Commune members. It's close to the Finger Lakes.
    Brightest Blessings

Rick the Prick Perry is Gov, yes, One man I'd like to spit in his eye. Such a negitive human being, all ate up with The Mean Bodies.

When I broke my neck and had several surgeries on my right hand, I complained to his office how badly I was being treated by the SSA. He told me to Quit Whinning and get a job. It was like a slap in the face. He's a cold hearted SOB as far as I'm concerned.

Altho Texas is a beautiful State, their politics stink.

Becci and I went to the same college. (OPSU) I majored in Mass Communications, and she majored in Music.

That's the correct OPSU. It's a public university. At such a small university, we were able to study from professors that have a PhD. (I always thought of that as a bonus)

Oh yes, I remember Mike Oldfield. Did the theme to the movie "The Exorcist" right? He's been around a long time. I think that movie came out in about 1973.

I almost quit today. But, I had a nice chat with Skip, and he told to just start reporting the guys that are sidetracking our threads with all the off-topic posts, and attacking people. I'm just getting sick of seeing our discussions constantly knocked off track by those guys. It's just wrong. Up to this point, I've been reluctant to do that.

I'm just blowing off steam. I not ratting you out. I haven't anyone else either. I am actually leaving, because after thinking about it....it makes more sense than being a narc. I'm damned if I do...damned if I don't. Besides, what beef have you and I ever had..besides this? You've never blindsided me. I been getting messages from people that were "just wrong". And they weren't from the thread we were in yesterday. Don't sweat this...
Keep on keepin' on. Been nice talking to ya'

If being yourself makes you mean..be someone else!

    Gate68,

I understand what your saying about the small stuff, and it's a good point. You're a bright person. I think you've figured out that I abhor conflict. I'm really not good at it. I'm a big guy, and seem (in real life) to have to defend myself [verbally]after everytime I just raise my voice. It's made me kinda' defensive. I admit I've been selfish, and just wanted to talk about issues. The young are the future..and they don't hear my message anyway. I can see that you are much more patient with the way they delivery their message than I am. I do respect you for that. I've become jaded, not the tolerant person I was. I don't want to become some cynical old hack. I sincerely apologize for being so hard on people lately, and hope that when I get my good attitude back, I can talk with you all again.(without all the drama)
    Thanks again.

They hear you alright, keep talking. It's not that i'm more patient,it's just that i'm right up there with some of the worst"troublemakers".i'm as big an asshole as anybody if not bigger. The answer is in self realization.i realize i'm an asshole just as you realize that you're jaded. It's just something we gotta deal with.Once you realize that fact you naturally and even unknowningly move on.Life is good.

Thanks brother..I just need to accept that I'm becoming a grouchy old fart. I can't learn anything from this game, unless I play through. I don't have to learn to be patient...just quiet. Don't you think? You're not the first one to point out that I could stand to be a lot less serious. The test operators that work for me say that all the time. Like my new sig? It tells it all.
