my question is a little unsual but....if you plant a MJ plant and do pretty much everything right...nice big hole, good quality soil, mulch, animal prot. etc,...is it probable that it will work. I just hear alot of people claiming that "if its your first grow, dont buy good seeds. Waste of money". does this mean that most peoples first attempt fails? How did yalls first attempt go. Id ont understand why it wouldnt work, what are some possibilites, or things you have saw in your time? A first time grower can do the same as an experienced one, or i would think. sorry if this is diferent ?, it was just on my mmind. thanks

    haha, mulch?

Step 1. Read a grow guide.
Step 2. Come to terms with the fact that you still don't know your ass from your elbow even after reading hundreds of pages in a grow guide and shit tons of articles in magazines and on websites.
Step 3. Give it a try.
Step 4. Here's where it varies. You will either end up harvestingh the super ultra mega dunk (very unlikely) or you will fuck up majorly along the way and end up with nothing, garbage, or jail time(very likely.)

Experienced growers are experienced, to think a first timer could handle everything thrown at him as effectively as a well-seasoned grower is foolish. If you can't understand why, all hope is lost. I mean when something goes wrong in a car, do you think some fuckbag who has never opened a car can just fix it as well as a mechanic who's been doing it for years can?

And considering this is in the outdoor forum, you're talking about even HARDER types of growing.

I wouldn't loan my new Mercedes (assuming I had one that is) to a person who has never driven before.

My 30-year old Toyota (I have one of those), maybe.

Let's say you read extensively, dig holes etc.

The #1 reason guerilla grows fail is because they didn't find a remote enough spot. They're too lazy I guess. Like a kid I was advising a few years back. Instead of going to the Nat'l Forest which was only 10 miles away, he decieded to plant on a hill nearby his house where people went dirt-bike riding. Surrounded by a city and honeycombed with trails. I told him he was wasting his time planting there. He ignored me and spent a hundred bux on seeds.
His plants made it about 1 foot tall before some jackass ripped them off.

The 2nd most common reason is lack of committment. Plants need tending at least 2x/week (unless it rains, once/week if it does). Like someone else I was advising and he deceided to go on a 10-day vacation in the summer. His plants died.

And so far I haven't even touched upon subjects like insect infestation and herbivore predation. Do you know how to prevent those? I do, by learning the hard way (as in losing plants).

I once planted 50 plants in an extremely remote location with zero chance of being discovered, a few dozen feet from a small stream.
In the late summer, the stream dried up and I lost 40 plants because I was physically unable to haul in enough water for them all.
Nowadays I know what to look for to tell me if the stream is year-round or not (one of which is visiting that area in late Sept. the year before I plant there).

I wouldn't say most people fail the first time, especially not if they follow my guerilla grow guide (or someone else's although mine's the best).
But they'll have less than optimal results.

You don't want to use garbage seeds the first time. Save good ones from the weed you buy. Or ask trusted friends to save you some. That's how I got seeds for the first 25 years I grew.

There are a lot of things you learn only by doing.
    And failing.
