By far better than the Who. The sad thing is that most people have never even heard of Guess Who even though they've probably heard one of their hits: American Women.

I have to strongly disagree that they're better than the Who.

I can't even see the point of comparing the two bands, other than for the fact they both have the word "who" in their names. Other than that, they are completely different.

    The Who were innovators.

The Guess Who were little more than FM radio hitmakers.

The Guess Who have some good songs that have become FM radio staples ('These Eyes,' 'Undone,' 'Laughing,' 'Share the Land,'), but the Who had a much bigger impact on music.

In my opinion, the Who invented punk.

I can't think of anything revolutionary the Guess Who have done.

    Just my 2 cents.

    :)

    The Who???

Oh... the Guess Who... yes they are quite familiar. Perhaps it's that whole gererational gap thing.

Actually, I just saw Randy Bachman (also of BTO - Taking Care of Business!) performing at a local small town festival a couple weeks ago. It was both humorous and highly entertaining. But seriously, I was amazed at the catalog that guy has. I knew all but about 2 or 3 songs from the show. He was the creative force behind both bands and he's even been on the Simpsons. In my book, that simply defines success.

I'd have to say the highlight of the show was the song "Blue Collar". It's a jazzy sleeper from the first BTO album (I think?) full of totally groovey 70's jazz guitar jams. Quite a refreshing surprise in between nostalgic laughs.

    Long Live Rock!

I agree with Pressed_Rat, the Guess Who had many good songs, but they are nowhere near as good or as important to music as The Who.

My favorite Guess Who song is "No Time".

The Guess Who's best song is "Its My Pride".

    It kicks ass!

That's the first time I've heard that one... and I hope it's the last.

However, the Guess Who isn't all that bad. I saw them in concert a couple years ago and I was actually impressed. Not to bad for fat, 60 year old men. :p

The sad thing is that even the people who know the song don't even know what the song is called. It's called "American Woman" by the way.

Hey, the Who was on The Simpsons too! :p Which, by the way was the funniest episode ever. I loved it. I was laughing my heart out while my two siblings sat and looked at me as if I was crazy. They didn't get any of the jokes... so I got the pleasure of enjoying them all by my Who-loving self.

I heard of the Guess Who befoe I heard of The Who. But I like the latter better. Just my tastes, anyway, the Guess Who certainly isn't bad, but no comparision really...

I love the who, didn't they make most of the soundtrack to the movie Tommy Def Dumb and Blind Kid?? It's a musical, I enjoyed it. The guess who are good too. But I have to say, I had no idea they made the song "American Woman".

I prefer the classic mellowed out stonerrock of the Guess Who but "Clap for the Wolfman" must be one of the most annoying songs ever recorded

Well, you see, in 1969, Pete Townshend, lead guitarist and songwriter for The Who, had a genius idea. He would create a double album telling one story... something that had never been done before. The album, entitled Tommy, told the story of a young boy and his trials as being deaf, dumb, and blind.

Six years later, in 1975, Tommy was made into a movie. However, the original "rock opera" recorded by The Who was not the soundtrack for the film. The actors and actresses sang their "parts." Also, parts of the story were changed for the movie, and new songs were added.

So in other words, The Who's phenomenal 1969 album is not that same as the sub-par soundtrack for the film.

Oh, sorry about that then. :p
