As a male who has always had short hair, does anyone have any advice or know a decent website for growing hair long? I've decided that I'm sick of having short hair and want long, flowing locks![IMG]

Why do you need a website to grow your hair out?

meh, just make sure you take care of it - shampoo and condition regularly, run a comb or brush through it at least every few days and it'll be fine

There are, do a search - they're more like support groups for the men who have been feminized and ostracized from society due to having long hair (or at least, that feel that way).

Here's a little support group thing I used when I thought something was wrong, like a skin condition. :) turned out to be nothing.. but, erm, here's the link!

Because I'm sure having long hair will require a totally different care routine than having short hair. Having never had long hair, I want to know how to take care of it.

i dont really think having long hair is any different to having short hair.
My hair is quite long now, but i have had skin heads too... so having experienced both ends of the spectum, the only difference that i have noticed is that i need more shampoo now when washing my hair, and it takes just a little bit longer to get dry.
Females often spend hours washing and drying their hair (etc.), but i have never done anything like that and my hair is 100% fine.
The only difference is, (if u work in physical labour) be sure to wear a head band before it is long enough to tie back. It will get in your eyes and piss u off when you are working, and as u can guess your vision wont be the best either :p
    Peace and Love

just start using conditioner once your hair starts growing out. that's pretty much the only difference. You need conditioner to prevent tangles and to help repair it from all the damage it will be subjected to (sun, chlorine, etc.) dont condition your roots, you won't need to cuz your head produces natural oils anyway and conditioning the roots will weigh your hair down. I just condition mine from ear level down. i never brush my hair and i never blow dry it so my hair requires very little upkeep even though it's super long. just let it flow naturally brother.

I had a shaved head in Aug. 03, and now my hair is down to the middle of my back.

I wash it about once every two weeks with shampoo. I do shower everyday, but I only run hot water through it most of the time. When I do wash it, I use conditioner, but I leave it in until the next day. I'm not braging, but females do seem to like my locks, somethings gotta make up for a homely face ;)

I've grown long hair 3 times now, and my best advise is buy a really cool and comfy hat, and wear it for 2 years straight. The less you do to your hair the better, while its growing out. IMHO

I haven't taken care of my long hair for some time now :(. This is why I have nasty shitlocks. I don't mind em just some find it offensive hehe... It doesn't really matter unless you're someone who image or style means a lot to, which in my opinion makes you no better than the brand name fashion victims innit.

If you have a girlfriend or wife, just use her shampoo and conditioner. Easy as that. And it actually grows faster if you get it trimmed every 4-6 weeks.

*eyes* Ask before using her shampoo and conditioner, some of us use stuff that can get a little pricey if two people are using it regularly

I use Suave strawberry shampoo & conditioner it's only $1.87 (something like that) per bottle and that's all I need and I love it.

what kind of hair do you have?

different types - y'know, curly, straight, wavy whatever, require different levels & methods of upkeep...

It's straight hair, but the strands of hair are quite thin so it's quite light and fluffy-ish! I'm hoping that as it gets longer, the extra weight will keep it down!

pop over to longhair lovers and visit the forum. We have WAAAAAAAAY to much info and practical tips there, male and female. and a sometimes shemale, but John(ette)'s one of the most helpful souls on there.
basically, hair grows about 1/2 inch a month. keeping the hair in good shape and well nourished will allow you to grow more than might have to be trimmed, a winning proposition for you.

I just chopped my hair off today. I do this every 18 months or so. I will now probably grow it out again. My head feels very light right now. Hopefully when my wife sees it later tonight she will like it and have her way with me.
