well, I had to go through jury selection for the first time today. I didnt get chosen for the 12, or the 16 extra that the attorneys had to go through. I did get to sit through the process of them selecting a jury. Im still on call for the next two weeks, though. this case involved a guy who shot this woman in the face. he is charged with attempted 2nd degree murder and assault and battery. they project the case to go 2-3 days, but jury deliberation may be longer. Im just glad I didnt get called today. I dont want to do it. it was a waste of my time today...... 8.30 to 12, and all I did was sit and listen to them yap. I hope I dont get called for the next two weeks either. it will be just my luck that I will be called the last week, and the trial will last like 3 weeks. I hope not.
i got called for jury last summer. and then i get a notice again for this summer. fuck that, i sent it back and i'm exempt. i only have to do it 1 time every 3 years...
I've always wanted to serve on a jury...but it will probably never happen because I actually want it to. My minor is poli sci, so that kind of stuff is really interesting to me...
the 1st case i went into was murder in the first degree. judged dismissed me for hardship of being a student, so i had to go back to the waiting room. 2nd case was a civil case, really boring, and the judge wouldn't dismiss me. so i was actually put on the jury. then the lawyers can go through and dismiss people, and i was dismissed by the lawyers. then i was done for the day. so long.
right, here you only have to be on it once every two years....... so if the next year you are called up again, you can tell them that you were on it the year before, and they will exempt you.
Get your doctor to tell them you can't.... say you can't sit long or something like that. Ha ha ... you can't sit long - now that's funny.
i want to be on a jury too. I doubt i would get picked though especially if it was a criminal case that was being tried. I dont think the Prosecution would really want a criminal law paralegal on the jury. they would be surprised though, because half the clients that we have i feel they deserve to go to jail.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA thats exactly what my brother did. only he really is predjudice. but he did get out of it
they were asking questions like "are you related to any police officers" and have you been a victim of a crime, or anyone close to you been a victim of a crime?? I know I would have told them about the victim of a crime, which has happened twice in the past year and a half....... and Im related to two cops. one is a cousin and one is an uncle.
Yeah, don't be rude or obnoxious but make it undeniably clear that you're a very biased person in all sorts of ways.
I found court very distressing - the guy had cut off this young dudes ear for not paying his hit list off spliffo buyers the cool dude was obviously guilty but sewed it up by getting his grandmother to testify he was 'watching tv all night' and his supermodel girlfriend to plead 'he is so placid' FUKKER - he's infamous in Britain and still makes money while he's in jail - or even - gaol (old spelling ) - barstard - he got hit men and built his own mausoleum in gold - if anyone knows who I'm talking about - I'd be amazed - thats how low profile he is in this country - yet he owns a whole lotta shit worlwide - and shares in big companies - hold on I got my court appearance mixed up with local international fuk wit.Sorry about that - its ok I saw his palace one day - a grave waiting for him to come out of prison - what a selfish bastard,Anyway - he'll pay - some way or other he'll pay despite being comical in his cynical media appearances.OK I'll shut up
