ok, so say there is this really really outta shape 16 year old girl. and now she has to ride her bike 2 miles to work everyday. and today was her first day and she seriously thought she was either going to die or her legs were gonna fall off. what is your guess of how long it might take for her to get used to this journey.. everyday.. TWICE..
really? just a few days wow, thats really relieving! even tho im not lookin forward to the nxt few days..
well now that you guys say that, i do remember that the afternoon bike ride was WAYYY easier than the morning one. so maybe i am getting used to it. well thats good to know Im still not looking forward to biking in 100 degree weather during the summertime tho
riding a bike is fun. and you'll see, heather, it will be much easier in few days... in fact, it won't be hard at all...
A week at most. Also put legs up, high, when home or resting. That will cut down the time (reducing swelling, other reasons). Bring bottled water in the heat. Get one of those special thermos bottles that keep it cold.
yea it wont take that long but if it was really that much of a struggle, it might be worse tomorrow cause you prolly gonna be quite sore.
Hey sunshinelovepeace, you should tell this 16 year old girl that you know about my experience, to give her hope... I once was completely and utterly unfit and by that I do mean completely. It had been about 2 years since I'd done anything like ride a bike etc.. I started riding again and the first few times just going up a moderate hill, I had to get off and push the bike, even the lowest gear was too hard, I was out of breath and my legs just hurt too much. Anyway, within about 40 minutes of riding every day or two, within about a week, those moderate hills got a whole lot better, and very soon could be done in one go, without getting breathless or having burning legs. I ate a lot though, was very hungry, to build up the muscles I suppose. Later on, and I don't have an exact time period, but it would only have been 2 months or perhaps 3 maybe, I was able to take a few big rides, up to about 30 miles, without too much hassle. It was the capacity for endurance that got better and better....long stretches of continuous peddling just stopped hurting all of a sudden. This was in summer in 100+ degrees as well actually. The heat kind of gave it a masochistic pleasure... I figured hey, more endorphins! hah Anyhow, it's a good thing for you mentally, and would help ward of anything along the lines of depression etc.. especially when many people are prone to these problems during their teens. It's hard to be depressed when you're sopping wet from riding in the heat and you're busy hunting down a cold drink!
you look much older for me 16 are the girls in my class, stupid and immature. but youre a good exception then
wow im still in amazement hahaha... everytime i see you on the forums i think like "shes old, shes wise, shes not a kid like me." but shit... you're a young one... but you look prettier then a 16yr old
i always thought hev looked 16 (not in a bad way). hm.. maybe its cause i have a job where I have to learn how to tell how old people are. that and I noticed once I got to college, all the high school-age people looked a lot younger. i'm babbling.
haha oh mayn.. big blush.. and yeah im a young'n. 17 this summer tho! and hahaha.. wise.. i would laugh more if i hadnt heard it before.. i dont get it.. but yeah, ur not a kid at all. i dont think u act 16 at all.
