While watching the "Today" show this morning, I heard a story of someone in Washington DC, that owned a home worth about 200,000 but refused to sell it for 3 million to a big company....so the company had to do construction all around this home.
Oh heck yes I would sell my house for a cool 3 mill! Geez, I wouldn't even think twice! We've been planning on moving to a bigger home, and that money would be put to good use. I'd be buying a big old farm house out in the country, lots of acreage, get me some horses to ride, grow my own produce (or as much as I could) live off the land, have me a little corner store selling my home baked goods, jellies, jams, all that jazz...man, that would be pure bliss! Yes! I'd be packing my babs in a heartbeat! Bye, bye, see you later!
$3 million? I'm sold. I'm not a big lover of money, but I'm not going to piss away that much. Hell, I could start a REAL commune with that.
Oprah went up to a home that was not for sale, asked the people how much, they quoted her a price and she raised the price offer to em, like she felt they were asking too little or something.
3 mill??? hell yeah... i'd throw in me pet cats and a give a complimentary blowjob for that kinda money....
I would prolly sell, but I have I a need to feel I am "standing in the way of progress" streak, so I might push it. A guy back home refused to sell his home to home depot, so they had to buy a shitload (5-10) more homes in the other direction and move the building's build site. at first you are like hooray, he won!!! but afterward they had more parking lot than they need so home depot sold/leased, not sure which, a site directly on each side of his home to fast food joints with drive throughs. I assume they had pull with the architects, because the drive thrus were all very close to his pad, each side. One was a 24 hour joint, Del Taco. He eventually sold at a loss because he got tired of the drive thru noise. Big Business wins again. But he did cost em a few million when they had to move the build site.....well untill they recouped thier cost with the fast food places.....I am sure there is a sad moral there......
I am not sure what I would do, but I really admire people who refuse to sell their home to make way for a corporation. I like to hope that I would refuse to sell too, but it is unlikely that I will ever own a home.
