Hi fellow veggies, I am faced with a moral dilemma and need some advice. I am a very strict vegetarian and usually avoid all types of animal-derived products in clothes, make-up, etc. I am getting married and bought a dress which cost me £550 and checked that the dress wasn't made out of silk. The dress took four months to make. What I didn't realise is that the dress is completely covered in pearls. It was an honest mistake, I just thought there were white man-made beads. I am really upset because I have this dress, the wedding is in four weeks and I don't know what to do?. Would any of you guys go ahead and wear it?. Thanks, kix.
It ultimately is your decision but if you love the gown i say WEAR IT!! You had no idea in my opinion it would be more of a waste not to wear it Love & Light- Amy
I'm a vegan (so like you, relatively strict), first off. IMO, I'd still wear the dress, but then I'd give it away (or since it's worth so much, sell it for cheap so you don't lose all the money) to someone else who needs the dress -- maybe auction it away on e-bay? The reason being, it was already bought even if it was bought by mistake. You can't undo the mistake, but you also have to realize that nobody is perfect (not even fruitarians!!) and you have to accept a certain level of imperfection. It's impossible to be even close to perfectly moral throughout one's life. =)
Hi guys, Thanks so much for your support. Hikaru Zero you are right, in the world we live in it is impossible to be sure that we are consuming/wearing/using animal free products ALL of the time. Thanks, kix
I am vegan also and this is a hard decision. Unless you can get you rmoney back, I would say wear the dress. If you sell it after, maybe consider donating some of the money to a reputable animal charity or humane society. It was an honest mistake. It's not like it's fur trimmed and you said "ok just this once". You honestly didn't know.
