http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/doom3/news_6103905.html Looks like Valve can finally give us a legitimate reason for postponing the release of HL2. Up to 50,000 copies of Doom 3 have been dled over the weekend alone. And once the game is released there will probably be more. Aint that a bitch for id? Maybe they should've made security a little tighter........
I doubt the way in which this was leaked was anything like the half-life 2 leak. At this point (with doom 3 having gone gold already) it's probably more likely someone employed in a factory where they're manufacturing the discs sneaked out a copy and released it online. This happens all the time and is much more common than one of the computers the game is deing developed on getting hacked. Anyway Valve do have a legitamate excuse. It wasn't finished. Doesn't help the fact they lied to us about when it was going to be released and didn't tell us until a week or so before it was due out. Grrr *Grumble grumble grumble*
Some stores in the states started selling the game before the release date, hence the massive downloading. I'm pulling a copy down right now, theres a good chance i'll buy it though...
