Hi! I wonder if you can go to a rainbowgathering solely for soulsearching pupouses? I feel like I havn't really found myself yet, but I do feel a strong drive towards the hippie culture and the hippie viaions and state of mind. I wanna look deeper into it and feel that maybe a rainbowgathering may be a way for me to find my way home. If I would come there in usual proletarian clothes, knowing nothing about the real hippie way of life... will I be accepted? Will I get a chance to make friends there or will I be pushed away? Will I even get in? I don't wanna go soulsearching if I have to be fake and appear like I know more than I actually do.
Rainbow isn't about meeting a dress code or passing an entry exam ... it's people ... a diverse, delicious rainbow of personalities, lifestyles, ages, and backgrounds. What clothes to wear? Brother there are those who prefer none, those who love creative expression, dress-up, some who look like a middle-class mom or pop, there are dreadheads, shavedheads, longhaired and shorthaired heads, people dressed like the classic or new age hippies, people with piercings, some with tattoos all over and those with none, women with hair goop & make-up (at least at arrival) and earthy types without and damn glad about it .... rainbow is for anyone. It's the family of humanity that we are born into, not a group to join or ask permision to attend. However, no one can actually state what rainbow family is or is not for anyone other than themself ... this is simply my take & view and you will be responsable for coming up with your own. My first gathering, sheesh, I had expectations that it would be eutopia with only hippy types lovin' the earth, sky & heavens in a grand 'OM' of peace and spiritual awareness. I found this, however I also found a whole lot more ... reality is that all sorts arrive and this is what I was first shocked by & then fell absolutely in love with. It is one reason I return to a gathering, I crave the diversity, the differences and the reflections. On whether or not you will be accepted, I would guess that you will however it depends on what expectations you have, how you treat others, the folks you meet, how you present yourself, etc. There is such love at a gathering, enough that if you run into those who are downers or rude, you simply walk on down the trail and someone will soon say "Hello brother, welcome Home", damn, those are words that swell my heart, set my spirit soaring, and release all stress from my ordinary daily life in the world outside a gathering. You stop & chat with someone you pass by, you help with wood, dealing with the shitters, or water, a meal ... and it can feel like you've known the folks for ages rather than hours. Now, if you are truly soul searching, perhaps seek out a spiritual focused village at the gathering. Most of all, if you go I suggest dropping any and all expectation of the people, the experience, the drama (or lack there of), of what you will do and who you will meet. For soul searching purposes, I suggest going to the gathering with a readiness to step in & dance the moment, each as new, and consciously experience where ever that takes you. Oh, and if anyone tells you that you must pay to get in or meet a certain criteria then they are shitting you and just smile and walk or drive on through.
Do you have a belly button? Thats the only criteria that I have ever heard of. Rainbow iisn't about what you wear, Brother no one cares. Our differances is what makes the Rainbow. And by my own personal experiances Rainbowland is the best place for soul searching. I hope to see you on the trail someday. Lovin you, Sweet Pea
