What I've noticed is that people can break through a filtered proxy, by typing a fullstop like "s.e.x." rather than using the word "sex" especially if dansguardian is used as the filter. does anyone know of a way to stop this? I think I once read on the dansguardian site that this is a known limit to the software but cannot find the link to that article again. But its not just a dansguardian thing !
That really depends on the proxy, and if it has an allow all or a deny all rule as the default action. Some proxys will let you use regular expression, where you can stop S*E*X and it will stop all occurances of a word that have those characters in them, this can be a real pain though, and if done wrong will cause false positives
Thanks for the reminder - I just remembered that was what the article on dansguardian was about, avoiding false positives and how blanking something like "s*E*X* is probably not an option. The only reason I'm asking is because I'm experimenting with a lot of security technology right now to find the best options - dans looks about the best I've found yet Thanks a lot for that reminder.
