They used the song peace frog on the xgames commercial. I think thats awesome. They cut it up a little to fit in better but it definetly is the song. I thought that was kind of awesome they are still getting noticed in main stream media. Too bad it doesnt say what the song is anywhere on the commercial to maybe get a few more fans. Anyone else see this commercial

I used to like that song too, one of my favourites of the doors, now the mainstream has gotten a hold of it, and is now ruining it, bummer. the same thing happened with my Happy Jack of the who..... now it advertises Hummer vehicles.

Aww, you've got to be fucking kidding me! What in the Hell does "Peace Frog" have to do with the damn X-Games?!?

Look at the lyrics for "Peace Frog":

There's blood in the streets, it's up to my ankles
    She came
Blood in the streets, it's up to my knee
    She came
Blood in the streets in the town of Chicago
    She came
Blood on the rise, it's following me
Think about the break of day

She came and then she drove away
    Sunlight in her hair

    She came
Blood in the streets runs a river of sadness
    She came
Blood in the streets it's up to my thigh
    She came
Yeah the river runs red down the legs of a city
    She came
The women are crying red rivers of weepin'

She came into town and then she drove away
    Sunlight in her hair

Indians scattered on dawn's highway bleeding
Ghosts crowd the young child's fragile eggshell mind

Blood in the streets in the town of New Haven
Blood stains the roofs and the palm trees of Venice
Blood in my love in the terrible summer
Bloody red sun of Phantastic L.A.

Blood screams her brain as they chop off her fingers
Blood will be born in the birth of a nation
Blood is the rose of mysterious union

There's blood in the streets, it's up to my ankles
Blood in the streets, it's up to my knee
Blood in the streets in the town of Chicago
Blood on the rise, it's following me

Now you tell me what that has to do with the X-Games. Man, "Peace Frog" is one of my favorite Doors songs, and now they've gone and raped it like so many other great songs. Jim Morrison wouldn't stand for this shit.

Ugh, I know. I love "Happy Jack!" Damn them! Why the Hell don't they use some of their billions to create some interesting jingles or something, not rip off every great classic song they can get their hands on.

At least the original Beatles recordings are safe. The day they play a Syd Barrett song on T.V. is the day when... when... well, I'll be seriously pissed. :p

What?! Why did they have to modify it to make it faster? I think it has the perfect beat the way it is... perhaps they wanted it to sound like punk or something.

Nice to see the teenagers are the ones enjoying the commercialization of a great song. Three cheers for today's youth! We're fucked! We're fucked! We're fucked!

i hate it when companies use good songs fot their commercials. it degrades the song and really pisses me off. they shouldnt have the rights to do that.

Not necessarily. Artists always have the right of refusal. For example, Billy Corgan was recently offered millions for the commercial rights to "Tonight Tonight" and "Today". He, without hesitation, denied.

yeah, thats because he owns all the rights to his songs...... alot of artists and musicians were stupid enough to get into the business without owning their music catalogue. The beatles were one of those bands who NEVER owned their own material (not until their solo careers). so, alot of the musicians really dont have a say in whether or not their music is getting whored out to corporations.

yeah, I think I will go nuts once I hear a pink floyd song in a commerical. I hope I never see that day.

I dont know why people go nuts whenever they hear a classic rock song being used in commercials.... for me it makes me hate the song so much, because those commercials can start to grate on your nerves.

Whoa guys calm down. They didnt change the beat when I saw it, they just used the beginning of the guitar and two lines of music. You cant even really understand whats being said. How can you get so pissed because a song is used on a commercial? You should be happy that classic rock isnt dieing with todays youth and still getting noticed. Someone could be like "Wow that songs cool" and try to find out who sung it. I do that with alot of tv and commercials. It helps get older or more unkown music known. You dont see the doors on MTV now do you? How do you think they are suppose to get known with todays youth in a mainstream?? Seriously. Its a song. Not the end of the world because it was on a commercial. Calm down.

Exactly what I'd say Magical Mushy,
It makes a change from the usual tired and predictable Chemical Beats type stuff they usually use on those ads anyway. Good music is good music wherever its played and to the more people the better

How can you say thank god the doors arent on MTV? Id love for the doors to be on mtv! I dont see how you couldnt. It could start a whole new movement with more people my age getting a chance to listen to it. Dont you want the older music to become more main stream? If The Doors were on MTV dont you think that the music which is getting to be teenagers is better? How can you say somthing which would benefit music in itself for another generation.

No, I don't want the "older music" to become more mainstream, especially on a shitty network like MTV or on a commerical for fast food. I don't want middle school kids liking the Doors because they want to be cool and fit in. It's a disgrace to their music. Besides, The Doors are mainstream... I hear them on the radio all the time, you just have to listen to the right stations.

The last thing I want to see is a butchered version of a great Doors song playing to a music video created 33 years after Jim Morrison's death. I can see their music video lineup..."Up next, it's Britney Spears, followed by The Doors, and then, it's 50 Cent." Hahaha...

yeah, then youll see a bunch of kiddies with tight leather pants and long hair, wearing a typical doors tshirt and saying your favourite line "groovy man, lets smoke some weed and listen to jim morrison's poetry". I would say, "no thanx"

the doors were on vh1, with ian astbury and some other vocalists for storytellers, and vh1 is almost as bad as mtv has gotten.

good music should not be commercialized, it cheapens the whole thing. Most kids will hear "peace frog" on the radio or something and they will think, "oh yeah, thats the Xgames theme song!! that song totally kicks ass." Just like most commercialized songs, they are more known for what they advertize than what the true meaning behind it is.

you will see that regularly on M2.

actually I recall seeing a block of doors tunes on the M2 station, but the only one I really remember is "unknown soldier"... It was kind of weird, most of the video, it just showed jim morrison riding a bicycle through LA, I think.
