Well, I really need to know one thing about growing. When they are small, how can you tell if they are male or female? I can't wait until they are large because if they ever make the rest of the plants in my neighbourhood turn male, they'll freak. So, How can you tell if your plants are male or female when they have recently sprouted?
You're not gonna tell when they've recently sprouted Read a grow book please. But FYI, once you see either little grape looking things (male) or white pistils (female), coming out at the nodes, then you'll know.
Don't pull plants up to early its easy to mistake male and female preflowers. Leave plants untill they are clearly flowering you will have plenty of time to remove males before there pollen is actually released. Be patient. Males generally grow taller than females but don't base sexing solely on this.
So the males will start growing the seed sacs before they start pollinating? Im just afraid they will get the other females in my area and that wouldnt be good. On average, how long does it take for males to start pollinating?
no i dont but my friends do and all i neede to know was if there was ANY way to tell between male or female plants when they are still relativly young.
Not unless you're growing from clones from a known sex. Checking preflowers is one method people use but like buffoonman said, it's far from foolproof.
first crop is always gonna have seeds,, ya gonna have to sex them by starting the budding cycle,, then yank all the males, they will have dingleberries., .. once ya got all females just grow from cuttings..
