turned the sprinklers on? that would suck... o well, i guess ill never get to smoke at farrend field.. damn reality check: i never want to smoke at an area where i know im being recorded, photo'd, and am goin to be charged/fined... getting high is getting high is getting high wherever u are.. i say move it to the basketball arena so those coloradoians can have one huge hotbox
The people go to the park on 4/20 to smoke pot in protest. I'm sure the majority of them knew they were trespassing. Unfortunately, the tresspassing does not go well to add to the credibility of their protest. The university has every right to deny a bunch of party'ers from wrecking a field that they pay to maintain. I doubt the university was motivated by the illicit drug use as much as they were by the rampage that these people cause every year to their field. Come and protest on my lawn and see what I do about it. C'mon people, grow up. Without responsibility, people such as these protesters do nothing but perpetuate negative stereotypes against the efforts of the true marijuana activists. How can you cry that marijuana laws are not fair, when you have no regard for law anyways!?
The majority of those pictures are not solid enough evidence to convict anyone of smoking pot. In order for a photo to be credible evidence. The person in the photo would have to be engaging in smoking, or holding pot, and the pot must be clearly identifiable as being pot. For all anybody viewing the photos may know, they are all smoking tobacco or crack. Or maybe they are having a bubble party! Remember: you don't have to prove you are innocent, they have to prove you are guilty.
Guys, it's totally reasonable for the University to do this. Especially when you look at the money that will be brought in from all the tresspassing charges, money that will help defray the cost of frivolous lawsuits targeting professor-initiated rape (http://www.coloradodaily.com/articles/2006/05/04/news/c_u_and_boulder/news1.txt). *sigh* Isn't it time for tort reform, people!? Look at the state of education in this country, when a professor can't even force his research assistant to have sex with him?
Remember: you don't have to prove you are innocent, they have to prove you are guilty. Yes, but. You're really expected to just plead guilty and accept the punishment with grace and acceptance. Sure, you could fight it, but why risk the five or ten years in a real prison when you can take a plea deal and get 6 months? There was a case in Oklahoma where a guy refused to take a plea deal in a relatively minor marijuana case. He was the first person to plead Not Guilty to a marijuana charge in the entire history of the county. He got 93 years in prison. Participants in Rainbow Family are often offered plea bargains where they can pay a fine of a hundred bucks or so, or challenge it in court- those who have fought it and lost (the Pennsylvania Three for instance) have gotten six months in jail for attending a gathering. Another tactic often used to convince people to just plead guilty is to threaten to charge the accused roommates, girlfriend/boyfriend, spouse, parents, etc., with complicity in the crime. Even if they're known to be innocent, they'll probably just plead out rather than risk their whole life in a gamble. In this particular case, I'd bet supper that they only prosecute those who resist or object to whatever punishment the school itself gives these students. If you just lower your eyes and say "I's sorry marsa, I won' be sellin' my soul to Satan no mo... praise Jesus!" you won't be in too much trouble, I suspect.
Yeah, yer right. That's true in a lot of cases, unfortunately. If more people would defend themselves however, the system would change. Sadly, some people have to be martyrs. I don't beleive that is the case with Ferrand field though. They had plenty of opportunity in previous years to make an example of those protesters. If they really wanted to catch them for smoking dope, they would just hang around and bust them on the spot instead of a wild goose chase. Though, I would bet their intention was more to publicly humiliate these people by posting pictures of them engaged in this activity, and to enforce their authority and rights to their own property.
show me something on that, cause honestly i think that is some urban legend... 1st one ever, thatd have to be like in the 30s or 40s.. ? ... 93 years? they dont even do punishments like taht unless it is for multiple crimes, and this was just a mj charge, so thats just 1... give me a credible link
Alan Wilson, man...? yeah he does look like him thats some crazy nazi bullshit. hahahah DJ youre such a dick... ha
Dude this whole thing is complete bullshit! I live in Boulder, and for as long as I can remember the police have just like looked the other way. No one really expected the field to be closed. One guy just pulled down one of the fences, and everyone started pouring in. The guy was arrested, but i dont think he got charged with anything. I have friends whos pictures are on that website and one has even been identified! Whoever the fuck did that is an asshole! I didnt see my picture on there luckily, but i wasnt stupid enough to toke up in front of a camera either...
wow, wtf... well, nothing against the university, and even tho there were signs, nothing against the protesting smokers cause 'fight the power' hell yea... but... FUCK THE DOUCHES THAT ARE TURNING PEOPLE IN! WTF?!!
