I usually read the book before I go and see the movie.....that they way its been up until yesterday. I didnt even know the movie I was watching called Memoirs of a Gashea was a book until my friend asked me if I had read the book first. Lord of the Rings I made sure I read the books before hand and I always read my fav. author Dean Koontz books before they turn them into a movie.

Most of the time I try to read the book first but on occasions I have read books cause I liked the film. I like to read the book first so that my brain has a chance to imagine the characters and places itself and not copy them from the film :)

Well usually I don't even know that they are books until after I've seen it or started wathching it (case and point the Maltese Falcon).

I like reading the books after though because usually the films change facts, or leave out parts all together so I enjoy getting that little extra after the fact.

I just do whatever I come across first. Like if I get a change to read the book before I watch the movie I will, and if I get a chance to watch the book before the movie I'll do that too.

It really doesn't matter much to me. But I'm more inclined to go to a movie if I've read the book. But I won't go if I didn't like the book.

A lot of times, though, I found the movie to be more of a letdown than anything else.

Timeline, for example. I love that book, but I cannot stand the movie at all

Usually I end up reading a book after I've seen a movie. For one thing, it often helps to picture the characters as I'm reading (esp. The Godfather, Lord of the Rings Saga).

Sometimes I didn't know that a particular film is based on a book until I've seen the film (The Ice Storm, [original] Manchurian Candidate).

books and movies fill different entertainment needs for me, so i try not to compare the one to the other. rarely will i ever read a book and watch the movie concurrently. usually i'll have read the book years before i see the movie or vice versa.

I always get disappointed when I read a book then when I watch the movie i point out all the things that they did wrong. My stepmother refuses to go to the movies after I told her Ella Enchanted was a piece of shit.

I usually read the book after I see the movie. If I read the book first, I focus way too much on the differences between the book and the movie.

Read the book first if i can. That way while your reading the book and you picture it in your head you're not stuck on how the movie portrays it.
