can a gay or lesbian person say they are gay and then later in life realize they werent. Is it possible? Or would it be considered bisexual.

Recent studies have shown that Gay men have the same brain waves of women and Lesbian women have the same brain waves of a man. In other words Gay is Gay, you're born that way its not a choice.

On the other hand its common for boys to fool around or "experiment" with other boys when they are young and just entering the Puberty stage and later start dating women and never fool around with another guy.

Doing so does not make them Gay or Bi, its more of discovery of one's self.....Ok, boys just like to fool around and when a guy's got a hard-on he feels compelled to put it some place and if they can't find anything except another boy what the heck blowing a load is blowing a load.

Like the Ole saying goes, "any port in a storm."

Not sure about the biological stuff, but socially among guys it seems that if you've ever done anything gay and are willing to admit it in public you can sleep with women for the rest of your life and people would still regard you as bisexual.

I kind of agree with Sasssss though. I don't think people change, I think sometimes they just try (consciously or otherwise) to be something they're not. There's a surprising amount of stigma attached to bisexuality in men, so I think a lot of guys will label themselves as either straight or gay and modify their behaviour accordingly.

Sexuality is who you're attracted to, not just who you sleep with. I don't think there's any shame or anything in feeling an attraction towards the same/opposite sex and not acting on it. People have their reasons.

I have known of guys who are gay realising they have attractions for a woman later on in life.. Yet it has been re reversed.. I think most of it though is pressure from families..

I highly doubt the brain waves theory though. It is too easy to say gay people have certain brain waves as this or that and it would be a test to see if your kid would be gay.

I've heard elsewhere that there are similarities in responses between gay men and straight women, and straight men and lesbians. But I don't think it's anywhere near as simple as that, anymore than heterosexual attraction is that simple either.

    It's not theory, it's science facts. ;)

I think that if a 'gay' man realized he isn't gay and likes women....he was never gay in the first place, just curious.

The one thing science isn't about is facts. It's a theory, nothing more. We don't know 1% of what we'd have to know about the workings of the brain and human consciousness to be able to say anything assertion about human sexuality is fact.

Sorry, don't mean to bite your head off, but it's true.

And I dunno, I'm not comfortable with this deterministic approach to sexuality. People's personalities change throughout their lives, why should orientation be so rigid?

I kind of agree with selfcontrol.

...Why focus so much on the title of one's sexuality?

I'm sure there are gay men who have had feelings for females later in their lives and vice versa.

    Why does it matter?

    Love is Love.

So you're telling me brain waves are theory not fact? Right.
Yes, they DO know about human sexuality and the brain, honey. Do your research. ;)
Orientation isn't rigid, just rigid to those that MAKE it that way. This guy asked a question....he got answers. He's obviously confused about his sexuality (Reading through his other posts).

Watch my mouth? How? Take my eyeballs out and turn em around?
What bull? I do know what I'm talking about.
And, what does my being pregnant have to do with this thread?

    To quote your thread titles:
    "Life sucks when you're gay"
"I am paranoid about being gay. I need help."
    "Gay OCD"
"Can a gay person realize they are straight?"

If that isn't a "I'm confused....help me" cry, I don't know what is. It's not an accusation, just an observation. ;) Honey.
Good. Get nice and pissed off. Then, make a thread about it.

    Don't be a ****.

This is a free speech forum.

You asked for peoples opinions, and she was simply giving her opinion on the matter. I think everyone can agree with her on one thing; you seem very confused about your sexuality.

Zeppelin kid, if you're going to post here and ask for helpful responses, people are going to be honest. Nobody's "accusing" you of anything. Well some people might be being a tiny bit rude about it, since it's obviously a sensative subject, but really people are trying to help you. Not to sound like a bitch, but if you don't want to hear what we honestly think, then it might not be a good idea to post here.
