So what did everyone do for mothers day?? My hubby took my 2 year old to go see my MIL for part of the day to give me some peace and quiet with Julian who is only 5 weeks old, and therefore sleeps a lot. I sewed for awhile, and read and took a bath. I also called my own mom and we chatted for awhile without the normal distraction that happens every time I get on the phone. Then they came home and we had a nice dinner and my hubby rubbed my back. It was a great day! I wish every day was Mothers Day :)

My mother lives a efew hours from here, so I just called her, and I send her a gift. 2 homemade soaps, one smelling like coconut, the other like grapefruit, and bathing salt with bloodorange-essential oil, and red food coloring. So everything smells really fruity-warm-vacation like :) I really hope she likes it :)

that sounds great - do you make soap from scratch? The only way I've ever done it was using a bar of clear glycerin soap and melting it and adding scents to it and shaping it. I know thats not really "making" soap, but its fun and I dont know how to make it from scratch

I had a good day for the most part. I spent the day with my kids and their father (we're not together really but still hang out a lot and get along well-so we'll see). Then, about 5 or 6 his mother and stepfather came over to get some furniture. He (stepfather) reamed us for not coming over because he made hamburgers. We had already made plans to spend the day alone and his mom knew that and was encouraging it (she REALLY wants us to get back together). So, I was like-um, it's MY mother's day too-don't I get to decide how I want to spend it? So, he pretty much ruined the day. But, then we ate sushi and all was well again.

    I had to work.....belch :p
we didn't have any money this mother's day, so we couldn't afford to go anywhere, which apparently cody wanted to do. So when we get our tax retun this week, he's taking me somewhere, and buying me the gift that he wanted to.....no idea what it is.
I would have been happy if he just would have made me breakfast or something.....

When I got home from work last night, Cody, Leane and I went for a nice walk. The weather was beautiful, even at 9 pm. I was pooped when I got home, though, lol...so it was off to bed.
Oh, and my mom gave me this pretty hanging plant of flowers and a "mommy journal" where I write down the dates and little blurbs about something special that happens each day with Leane. Is had all these cute songs and stuff written in it, too. :)

We took our old sound system & DVD player over to my MIL's house & installed them for her yesterday... she didn't have either, and my DH got a new one for us... so we kind of got lucky.

My mom said all she wanted for mother's day was help in her garden. She had a tumor in her knee & can't get out to plant the (literally) hundreds of new flowers & veggies she's picked up. But it's been raining literally every day for the past week, and doesn't look like it's going to lighten up until tomorrow. So I'll be spending the day in the dirt for her tomorrow. I'm gonna make dinner for everyone too... something low-fat and wonderful ;)

Me? Heeheehee... I'm beginning to wonder how many years you need to be a mother before mother's day becomes YOUR day rather than your own mom's. Seriously though my husband said he would come home with some fresh strawberries tonight, and he's taking me shopping for some pretty glass spice bottles... something I've wanted for a couple years now. AND he said he would install shelves into one of my cabinet doors to store them all on so they're easy to get at :) He said he'd pick them out himself, but wanted to let me choose so I got exactly what I wanted!
    love,
    mom
