what is a urinary tract infection?

Can guys get them and if so how and what are the symptoms?

Yes guys can get urinary infections although its not as common as it is with women.

The symptoms are itching and a pusy discharge from the penis. Simple antibiotics kill the infection.

Symptoms are more like pain and burning with urination and suprapubic pain (the area above your pubic bone which is the bone you feel above your penis) Most UTI's in men are in older men and result from enlarged prostates and them not being able to clear their bladders completely. Also if you've been catheterized lately you are at increased risk. There is some increased risk in homosexual men and men that have anal sex without protection since the bacteria that cause the infection are found in the digestive tract.

Man, if you think you have urinary tract infection, go the doctors or a free clinic. It might not be the infection you're hoping it is.

 

I second that! I thought I was having an internal explosion when I had one. I fell over due to the pain.

 

It really is like pissing razors, u try and speed things up to get it over quicker but the pain goes up tenfold, so u slow down but then the pain just goes on and on and on *shudders at the memory*.

 

I second that. Its extremely rare for males to get UTI's. In fact, so rare, that when men do get one, they get a work up for some type of urinary tract structural abnormality. I would get checked out. Its not gonna go away on its own. And if its something like gonnorrhea it can cause worse problems like infected joints.

 

It already hurts like a bitch when he enters me the 'right way' and on top of that no matter what I do to clean myself, I still get a damn UTI infection!

 

Drink a big glass of water before sex and make sure to go to the bathroom. Also make sure to clean you vagina after peeing (a damp wash cloth). After sex do the same thing. It's not very romantic, but it seems to help some people. If you wear tight jeans, stop for a while and see if that helps. Also try to wear cotton blend panties.

I used to get them all the time, but it's been 6-7 years since my last one.

 

fuck.... i have one right now....

two days ago it was the worst pain i have ever felt..... i could barely walk to the bathrroom.... and peeing was a hassle.... i came out of the bathroom crying every 15 minutes..... i ended up going to the nurse, passing out and pissing my pants and she drove me to the hospital where i got some meds....

if you think you have one, don't wait to get treatment.... i waited and the doctor said that if i had waited one more day it could have gone to my kidneys and done some serious damage.....

i feel a little better now though...... thanks to the prescriptions i got
