well i havnt been drawing since i was lil, and so im really into like death and mcr and shit like taht now, so i picked up my copy of mcrs cd three cheers for sweet revenge, and started drawing the couple on the front, and i was abosultly amazed at what i could do!!!! i was shocked! and then i moved into a drawing of helena and than this other thing from the used cd i have, so im obsessed with drawsing now i cant stop!! so heres my latest stuff
im kind of bored of the emo goth drawings, simply cos ive been through the PHASE myself hehe i like your last drawing though, i've done similar ones to that, its cool cos they are so horrid (not in abad way) and nice to look at.
you should try coming up with your own compositions. the MCR cover has little to no real art direction is played out and was crappy in this first place. you could come up with a few works way better. be original. and remember EXPRESS YOUR SELF NOT A BAND.
God, there are some pedantic people in here. So what if it's been done before? If she enjoys doing it, and can appreciate it herself, what's the problem? Have you guys never done anything un-original?
That's not the point, it's just the fact she keeps on doing them. If she enjoys doing this, it's fine, just let her do it then, but why would she post all these drawings on here? I don't think they're really that special... To mrsmorrison: try and use some more shades and go a little darker, with some stronger lines in it, or try and use different stuff to draw with. Charcoal (if you use that, be careful you don't smudge too much, it goes wrong so easily) or some paint... Using darker pencils might work aswell. Just try and "fill" lines. What you did now looks more like sketches you usually start with...
wasnt the actual point to her post that she was suprised she could draw. clearly she CAN draw, so stop being negative and praise her talents
I wouldnt go so far as say CAN draw, but move a pencil around on a piece a paper to make intentional markings for sure. Drawing involves shading, deep blacks, light grays, DEPTH! If she were 10 i would give her more props on her "drawings". Originality is minor in "drawing" ability, just like painting, the talent to draw or paint isnt what makes one an artist. CAN draw, and CAN paint, doodles, sketches and splatter painting all fall under different categories.
I don't really see what's so good about the top one... I don't want to sound harsh, even though I probably do, but I think many 10 year olds can do that. You can see she didn't put enough time into it. It looks rather rushed.
To draw that from mind takes judging the distances well to get a good representation of human expression in a consistent cartoon like style. It takes ability. Copying is a different story though..
Damn, some harsh people in here. This girl is 15. People should copy at 15. That's how you learn. You copy and copy and copy and one day go your own way. Shit, I'm 30 and went to art school and when I need inspiration I pick up an art book and copy. And she said she is learning. Never thought I would agree with that King Parrot dude, but everyday brings a new surprise I guess.
I'm 15 aswell... I only use reference pics whilst drawing portraits, because that's when you need them to get a good view on that person's features, and of course it gives you a clear view on the shading in that person's face. I usually add a little more contrast to a photo by, after I've done 1 layer of regular shading, use some more darks and highlights. When I'm not drawing portraits/using reference pics I'm just doodling or doing anatomy studies. I draw random figures or landscapes, or human hands, bodies or faces in certain positions.. stuff like that. Besides, I shade them. Or at least I put some effort into them. I don't just scratch some random graphite on a piece of paper. I don't copy stuff from a MCR album. I hate sounding harsh, but it kind of pisses me off when someone just makes a 1 minute drawing and calls it "art"... It's really not a personal attack to mrsmorrison, but it's not like "every 15-year-old should draw like that"...
