So what happened in a day for you, like the little stuff?

here is a note I wrote.........
    5:01 PM 5/14/06
When I woke up from my nap I saw a fly trapped between the slider and the screen. Right when I pushed open the screen to let the fly out, it got caught in a web and a spider went for it. I was startled, the spider was startled and the fly was left hanging as I closed the slider. That whole mess is getting water blasted someday. Little dead bird, narrow curved beak, spots on back, white streaks coming off eyes, striations across tail feathers, smaller than a sparrow, looked full grown, long beak curved down at end. Whats that?
Watching birds flying thru and landing in the dog yard today. Just burned some huck brush and hawthorn. Tried to save the tree that fell across the driveway but it was to rotten at the base. Boiling up some broccoli now to go in the chicken noodle soup. Listening to Bo Dean. Noticed both my mail servers will not take a wma attachment.
Princess Missy Moo is scared of the new Oster A5 clippers I just tried out on her.

    love to all

Okay ......so two days later no old hippie can remember any details in their exciting lives. It is so slow on this forum, I think there wasn't any posts yesterday. Do ya think like pot has permanently effected the quickness of old hippy intellect? Perhaps details are just a blur an hour ago. Now try to think back real hard and write down what you just did an hour ago. hahahahaha.....it ain't an earth shattering event but I just dumped the cooked rice into the kibble to feed my 9 dogs later.....

perhaps we are embarrassed to relate unless we invent the perpetual motion machine or the anti-matter rocket engine today.......nawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.......old hippies embarrassed? come on now.....you all ran and hid at the end of the 60's. I woulda thought you got over the embarrassment of losing the battle with the Feds and control freaks a long time ago..................mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.:)

    peace and love,

HonorSeed, you crack me up. Did you take any new pictures in the midst of this excitement?

How about this...I got up this morning, went and tilled Bob's (my chiropractic friend) yard for him. God, he's got a lot of rocks.(the big barretto tiller doesn't seem to mind though) This woman is jogging by in really tight you know. The tiller stops..instinct I guess. We watch the jogger who's is smiling at the two old farts studying her marvelous subtle jiggle. Load the tiller up and go to take it back to the rental place. See the jogger again, she spots us and is laughing now because we nearly took out a stop sign (but didn't) watching her run past the corner....life is good..I come home to my wife doing her yoga. She's now in a really good mood...hope the luck never ends..damn, the day ain't even over yet. The phone rings...it's my boss..telling me that I get to start working Mon-Thu instead of Fri-Sun. I think I'll go buy some scratchers.

Peace and love back at ya', w_o

i have looked at this thread a coulpe times hopin it possibly would take off ,,, at the same time thinkin who would really give a shit bout reading the miniscule but important to me parts of my day..... (gratifyin it in a sense n make it worth gettin up a few more days....) and from the looks of this thread not many do give a shit,,,

however ... i must take up for the ol hippies ,,, since i ,myself am just starting to wind down from the day and outdoors,,,, and some of us must take advantage of every decent weather day when we can..:) and not be pissin about postin on the internet... :p

finer parts of my day by the way were... watchin the idiot drivers on the road, watchin momma bird hover round her babies n collectin food n feedin them,,,, watchin my not so youngun do new n different time occupyin things instead of havin the tv or comp on 24/7 ..... n watching my te brew in it cups n now chillaxin a bit,,,...

this thread will take off eventually, it's like the space shuttle blasting off, looks like it's moving kinda slow but ends up in orbit. If nothin else I'll keep it as kinda a diary so I can look back on it at 109 yrs old when I really am an old hippie and .....ah duhhhhh..lol... I dunno what I'll think.
Wyldwynd and I have been shooting back and forth all kinds of pics........... some I took yesterday of my sheds..the dollhouse and gepettos workshop as well as my hubcap collection, etc....I'll put em on gallery later today.

So yesterday had a guy finally show up when he said he would and do some whacking on the jungle around here. No joggers came by, durn it. Cleared the table to do a little plaster restoration on a griffin. Painted one of the hundred or so wooden framed windows everyone throws out cause of the new double paned metal ones....gettin ready to do some add ons or at least a greehouse. They all have have a little caulking, ya know the six paned and four paned ole style (when there was real style) wooden framed windows. I'm taking it slow an easy, lots of cat naps, have to pace myself to 109 then I'm gonna have a fun spree for a few months before a pace myself again.....lol hahahaha. keep up the good work evil ones.....if not for our deeds everyone would think we were bad... fer sho nuff people don't think catnapping all day long is doin sumthing.............................. like I do.....

No wonder it feels like the weekend it ISSSS the weekend....I fergit what I did yesterday without looking at my notes....
I keep looking at this popular thread what's wrong with young hippies......I have an idea what's wrong with older hippies.....they'd rather give their opinion of what's wrong with yuonger hippies than post the positive stuff they did for the day on this thread........one thing fer sure.....if ya think yer daily activities are small potatoes an not worth mentioning, my opinion of your opinion about whats wrong with younger hippies are so small potatoes you could play marbles wit dem.......mmmmm
mentionin marbles.........is there an overabundance of people on this forum that think doing drugs is hip? It's a frickin placebo for the real thing man...
Here's the deal....you do something like build, clean, plant, trim, paint something and THENNNNNNNNN you get to feel good about accomplishin it. You wanna take drugs to get there, it may give you the same feeling.....I used to go that route. Some people are lucky to get that high feeling just startin to do something........so I'm going use this post as a diving board....and jump into some mighty fine digs aroun here an get some stuff done........rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........

    peace my hippie friens

yes they are all our pictures , i have a camera n picture fettish HS, there are a couple thousand that i do not have on there for different reasons,,, only one of which is lack of time,,,,:)... we dont get to awful many folks runnin through although this week two are sposed to be coming,,, although our lil "city kid" comin is 70...;) he can outwork most folks...:) We are pretty laid back for the most part here and try to keep everyone happy most the time,,, if we have a vegan here i do cook vegan and keep our dairy, eggs n meat things seperate,,, too me its not that big of a deal ,, and the veggies well we eat veggie food quite often specially in the summer.... in my three years here have only had to "run" 2 folks off one of whom actually thanked me for it months later... most that come actually realize within three or four days if its right for them or not and go on there ways,,,, its actually worked out well ...

now on to the memorable stuff....

got sweetcorn and okra planted in the upper garden this last week,,, and the seeds that havent washed or floated away in the lower garden are sprouting,,, only trouble is ,,, it aint no longer in hills or rows and all the markers floated away and changed location,,,, so its now a wait n see game to see where things do come up and if nothing more than cucumber n gourds poke through then i will have to reseed promptly....

got chicken eggs bout ready to hatch,,, sposed to be tonite n tomorry,,, candling them proved to be difficult cuz of shell color n some stink a lil bit after incubating,,,, so will be interestin how many of the 24 eggs actually hatch.... this is our first attempt with the incubation station....

brother feather n youngun hobbit came friday evenin and made us spaghetti dinnerthen we spent the evenin round the firepit conversing, laughin n having fun,,, the "kids" (hobbitt n pita)wandered the woods, talking n having fun,,,, both seem to enjoy each others company and was last visit til july or so,,, since ones headed north for a month or so n ones headed south for a month or so.... they are kinda cute to watch actually,,, made chicken dinner with veggies in the earth oven last evening ,, then they headed back down the road n we headed up the hill inorder to get pita to atl at 730 this am.... for her flight,,, its kewl watchin her do adult things (check in n her bags n security n going off thr the atl airport on her own without momma to push her along,,, just needs a bit of you can do it n off she goes,,,,) and being a bit nervous at doing it but actually doing them

will be interesting to see how her summer goes and how long she actually stays north,,, i be thinkin shes a bit more "hippie" than she even thinks n it wont be as "fun" back up north as she imagined....

not much gonna happen today other than the feedin of the critters, chillin a bit, cookin and getting ready to head back out into babble- on in the am.....

i woke up this morning with my hand between my legs. i don't remember the dream, but i remember feeling loved & happy. my dog on the bed beside me stretched and licked my face to tell me he wanted to go outside. when i layed there a little too long with a goofy smile on my face and my hand still between my thighs he jumped up and stood on my bladder licking my face. oops, gotta get up and face the day.

thanks chime for sharing your little thing story....or big thing story depending.

    Dill....
I just thought how great it would be to have a network of hippie stops across the country within a days ride of each other. You have given me some idea there are people out there who can visit, have fun and not be rip-offs. I wouldn't mind being the hippy stop on the west cost, but there is like 3000 miles betwixt us and that means, what a hippy stop every 400 miles?

The planting scene here is not going to take off until I get a greenhouse built. There is no zoning on R-1 property for farm animals. Bout the only thing that takes off in mid summer is a blackberry harvest in this sandy soil. Salmon fishing down at the jetty near Ft. Canby state campgrounds and sturgeon fishing off the bank of the Columbia River are possibilities. It be easier for any road warriors to stock up on free food at both the 2 food bank giveaways. It's illegal to take oysters off the bay at low tide, the mud flats are all leased to private companies. Put a pic in the gallery showing oyster bags.
There is razor clamming seasons here but not very often. Vegetables do grow but not this year for me, I have to many irons in the fire. Do have garlic and lemon thyme in pots going on. Have lots of ole seed packets dated 1992-95 or so but they are not germinating. So I'll be waiting till I can stock up on seed. Seems pretty spendy to buy these Nasturtiums new for 1.89 and only have a couple germinate.

A little rainy today for the first time in a while, been some real sunny weather. The other prob with the sandy soil here if it is not mixed with mulch or sawdust is the water just runs right off ...the surface doesn't even absorb moisture. That's cuz the sand particles are so fine bein on a peninsula made up by the washdown from the Columbia River.

I'm headed outside to burn some brush in this drizzlely weather, write at ya later.:)

yeah had a neighbors rooster try to corner my kittens one day, since my pets are an extension of me............. and .....ah........

well I was drinking about 70 bears Memorial Day weekend myself,
and I'm not proud at all of what I did.......but they did have 3 roosters crowing at 4 am every morn and goats on r-1 property 50 feet from my front door downwind...and ya kno how goat shit smells.........well it all boiled to a head and I nailed the rooster on my property at 50 feet thru trees with a choke trigger on a ole double barrel shotgun I had to hold together so it didn't fall apart when I pulled the trigger.
I caught hell from the neighbors and offered to pay for it, but they wouldn't take nothing. The kittens were born next door under the neighbors mobile home and I think they had the sense to get outta there or mister meanie was gonna drown them. I still have 2 of the brother kittens to this day....
It's one of those happenings that I'm not to happy about doing in retrospect, so I'm eating peanut butter on saltines at 1:43am in the morn on the west coast.

Reminiscing about bad memories still beats the hell outta dreaming for me. Dang those roosters were mean.

    advice from ole farmers almanac
'Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.'
and well......my domestic pets are all extensions of me, so that rooster really tryed to corner me. All the roosters and goats are long gone.....the neighbors are not, maybe this isn't the place for travellin hippies to camp out.
That reminds me Dill what is your drug policy at your sanctuary?

    peace

I'm gonna throw in the bunch of farmers almanac advice which you may find interesting

    An Old Farmer's Advice:

    * Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.
    * Keep skunks and bankers and lawyers at a distance.
    * Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.
    * A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.
    * Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled.
    * Meanness don't jes' happen overnight.
    * Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads.
    * Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.
    * It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge.
    * You cannot unsay a cruel word.
    * Every path has a few puddles.
    * When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.
    * The best sermons are lived, not preached.
    * Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.
    * Don't judge folks by their relatives.
    * Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
    * Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back,
you'll enjoy it a second time.
    * Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none.
    * Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
    * If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'.
    * Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.
    * The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with,
watches you from the mirror every mornin'.
    * Always drink upstream from the herd.
    * Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.
    * Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in.
    * If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence,
try orderin' somebody else's dog around.
    * Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

one we heard today.... i thought was pretty sweet,,,, pebbles in a bag all polish one another. and i love old quotes n bits of wisdom etc,,, way back when i used to use IM alot.. i had folks put me on there friend list just to see my bits o' shit that i would change daily....

had 6 younguns hatch.... will give all the others til tomorrow n start a new batch... kinda dissapointed it was only 25% live hatch,,,,... good damn thing i aint a chicken house manager,,,, i frowned upon my 4 % mortality rate on the dairy,,, this would send my ass into a major tail spin..... but alas,,, i have aged a plenty since then n take it all in stride.... many would have just become compost that much sooner,,, i tried to give them a chance ...;)

oh policy here is no drugs..... now what is n what aint drugs is up to each person to decide upon.... however we have faith that those that cant figure it out n need to ask prolly ought not be here anyhow ...;)

    like that pebble bag quote....
I go to funny quotes from famous people like Mark Twain
    http://www.amusingquotes.com/

today was a slow day, started out in the darkness of early morn, stepped out and saw the crabapple tree had sent forth all the snowy colored flowers it could. The tree is totally covered.
Sanded a little on the foot tredle adler machine....it got damp outside under a tarp this winter....it will be a while before I get to sewing some moccasins up 4 me ......
the thing was to heavy to lift up the stairs here and I had to wait for help to show up...gonna be a lot of sanding and oiling. I'll be making some pebble bags;)

And yeah, I think I'll go to a no drug policy if anyone asks. Best thing to happen was seeing the white blossums of the crabapple tree came on the night of light rain and covering the tree like a snow covers a mountain.

How bout turkeys instead of chicks, they're bigger, never heard of anyone eating the eggs tho....mmmmmmmmm

    peace bro
