Anyone ever had a hair test before?

I'm totally nervous. I have applied for a government job (I know, I know... but it pays so good!) and I have to do a hair test in about a month. From what I'm read, they can go back up to approximately 90 days.

By the time the test comes, it will have been 60 days since I smoked, and about 45 days since I took a little of my mom's prescription pain medicine (duh! I so wasn't thinking on that one.)... I'm a little worried, and I'm really skeptical that any of those special shampoos work.

Anyone gone through a hair test? Do companies really usually look back on a full 90 days? Let me know if you've had any experience with this. I'd appreciate it.

hmmm actually, the hair test goes all the way back to as long aas you have had the particular strand of hair that they pull. the only way to pass is to completely shave your head. the chemicals go into your hair roots when you take any kind of drug, even a hamburger will dhow up on those. and since its emeded into the hair, you cant getridof it.....sorry, but you're screwed.... :(

nope. the chemicals are ebedded into the hair itself. so unless you find a way to get rid of the proteins that make up our hair without killing your hair(which is not possible) you cant get rid of it. it even records the amount of water you drink over the course of your hairs life....you're screwed.....if you were a guy, id tell you to shave your head.

Hmm... I'll guess I'll just have to take my chances. I can't imagine myself with a shaved head. =) Thanks for the replies.

IMO hair tests are a scheme to get people to admit to smoking weed. I took a hair test in October a week after chiefing all weekend and passed. So I either got really lucky or they're full of shit. If they do work, shaving your head wouldn't do you any good any way. They can use hair from any part of your body so you'd have to shave your eyebrows etc.

I've actually read now that hair tests aren't that sensitive to a couple hits of pot... not as sensitive as urine tests, at least. But it seems they're more sensitive to "hard" drugs. Also, it looks like most companies only go back, at the most, 90 days, because there would be no point in them testing any further back, it would take too long, etc. I also read that some types of hair dye can interfere with the results, and lord knows I've got plenty of layers of dye in my hair! We'll see...

BTW - my brother told me that he had to have a hair test at his job and since his head was shaved, they made him cut his pubic hairs and hand them over. Funny stuff.

Just wondering....do the masters of consciousness cut the test hairs or pull them out by the root?

Cuz SWIM would be glad to shave every damn hair off and substitute it with real-human replacement...

Then again, people who sell their hair might have more to hide than SWIM....[IMG]
