I'll be coming back to Amsterdam for the second time this November 6-13.We have rented a beautiful two bedroom apartment on the Singel Canal. My wife and 18 year old son will be with me.Can anybody suggest some coffeeshops that also serve alcohol,as my wife doesn't smoke pot or hash?I really enjoyed some of the smaller shops, but always seemed to end up at Smokeys in Rembrandt Square for a couple of beer and a couple joints before the nightly pub crawl (great brown bars) back to the hotel.Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Stuart

There is a person on this bard called Nemisis. He has a great map to all of the coffee shops and if you put your mouse over the name of the shop you are intedrested in, it will tell you if the shop has alcohol.

    Have Fun!

De Kuil 420 Cafe - Nes Cafe - Rookies - Greenhouse Centrum

To name a few of my personal fav's. There are plenty of others and the recommend on Nemisis' Map is a good one. Check below.

DeKuil is my fav, you nearly always get a seat good beer and good quality smoke..
they also let you eat munchies from across the way, so you can eat, smoke & drink!!
Grab yourself the window seats, they are good for chillin' and people watching..

check out the map, it has all the info & location of each coffeeshop..

Some of my favourite places to have a smoke and enjoy a beer would be De Kuil (420) - which some people have already mentioned; Dutch Flowers - on a hot sunny day, the outside seats offer some of Amsterdam's finest scenery; The Nes - not visited myself but heard strong recommendations from many others.

Also Excalibur in the RLD is a nice place to hang out if you like some rock music - no longer has a license to sell cannabis, but you can bring your own to smoke and enjoy the atmosphere.

The greenhouse out on waterlooplein serves beers (oranjeboom on tap, delicious!)

It was right by my apartment when I lived there and I would always walk over for a brew and a smoke. Good people, relaxing environment, good location (you can outside and wander through the flea market there for hours on end).

Thanks for the recomendations.I will definatly be taking some of these in.My son turns 18 just before we leave, and as good as the pot is in Canada,I'm sure the quality and laid back atmosphere in Amsterdam will be a real thrill for him. This will be only my second trip there, but according to the map,I'm just a block or so away from Dampkring and even closer to Tweed Kamer and Dutch Flowers.I'm looking forward to the apartment on the Singel as opposed to a hotel.Again, thanks for the good advice and the great map by Nemisis. The apartment has wireless internet so I'll be able to check the map each day and find some good coffeeshops to brighten up my sightseeing in your beautiful and historic city.

    Thanks,
    Stuart
