Hey all, Is there a natural way to prevent sunburn? I mean apart from wearing a lot of clothes and staying out of the sun etc haha.. And how about natural after-sun? I hate putting chemicals on my body!! Thanks!
Interval gave me this recipe but it's for minimal sun exposure but natural- quarter cup anhydrous lanolin quarter cup sesame oil 4 teaspoons vit.E oil quarter cup sweet almond oil quarter cup aloe vera gel 15 drops essential oil of sandalwood or bitter almond combine all ingrediants. store in squeeze bottles in fridge. use about 2 tablespoons per use. can be used unrefriderated for three weeks.
i have not tested these personally but have read avocado and sesame oils can be preventative as well as aloe vera. if you try this give the oils a few hours absorbtion time so you don't attract the sun.
For fair-skinned folks, wearing UV-blocking sunglasses, avoiding sun exposure between 10am and 2pm,always wear a wide-brimmed hat and at the beach, use an umbrella would be absolutely essential.
Taking large doses of antioxidants protects against sunburn. I went from dead-of-winter North Carolina to blazing-hot-summer Minas Gerais, walked around for hours each day with the sun directly overhead, and drank acerola (high in vitamin C) nearly every day and açaí (high in anthocyanin) when I could get it, and it was several days before my skin even thought of sunburn.
