I fell asleep, and started dreaming. Somewhere in the dream I realized I was dreaming (now I'm not actually sure if I really knew I was dreaming, or if I was just dreaming that I did) so I took advantage and tried to do things I couldn't normally do. I decided to drive a car, but the fear of being caught crossed my mind; when I opened the car door, a policeman was sitting in the passenger seat. Then, (I don't know for what reason, I'm just telling exactly what happened) I decided to smoke weed. I asked my "friend" (this person didn't exist in real life) for some, but just at that moment, just like a real dream, it started fading out. I tried to concentrate on something or get into a converstaion, but I woke up. The thing is, I woke up into another dream. I was dreaming that I was dreaming, and dreaming that I knew I was dreaming. This dream went on like a normal dream, until I woke up for real. Then, I realized that I had just dreamed about dreaming. A little complicated and certainly wierd, but I wanted to share. What the hell?

What you experienced is called a lucid dream.

As a child I had lucid dreams where I would fly around. They were some of the greatest experiences of my life. The feeling was just that realistic. I remember trying to get others to fly with me... In nightmares, as I am fleeing, I occasionally find myself jumping as high as I can into the air, searching for the weightlessness once more. I can only pray to God that I have more of these soothing experiences.

I also had a lucid dream where I was approaching a haunted house with some friends. We were appropriately decked out in our Ghostbuster uniforms and equipment! As we approached the house, I had the realization that I was dreaming. WHAT A GREAT OPPURTUNITY I THOUGHT! I looked over to my friends, and proceeded to tell them that it was only a dream. They were hesitant about entering the house before they got the news... I don't remember much about the battle... All I know is we charged those demons!

As a young man, I had a re-occuring nightmare. A woman directly resembling Freddy from Nightmare on Elm Street, was living in my washing-machine! That may sound funny, but imagine waking up from sleep DURING your dream IN YOUR OWN HOUSE! Furthermore imagine how realistic it was. I would wake up in my bed during my dreams, and the demon would snatch me up as quickly as she could. The scariest part was that I knew it was coming, and I was incapable of doing anything about it... I would wake up IN MY DREAMS and know that this thing was coming for me.

I would say it wasn't until over a year or 2 later that God helped me out :-D
I found myself in a dream climbling up the spiral staircase of a tall tower. I had a sword in my hand, and I remember seeing my german sheopard. I am about 75% sure that I realized I was dreaming when I saw my dog. I proceeded to climb the staircase, where that bitch was waiting for me at the top. I chopped off her fucking head and never had the dream again.

Hmmmm... I wonder if I really knew I was dreaming, or was I just dreaming that I did?

I'm sure there are different degrees of lucidity... but that feeling you had was indeed the spark that starts the lucid dream... It's hard to gain control over the lucidity, once you realize you have felt it!

The cop is a good sign as it portends a guardian, an angel, etc.

The fact that you could not carry out your wishes may be saying that you still have too much subconscious programming, you're still too conditioned. (Yes, it is very hard to urinate in one's dreams because of our conditioning; not that that would be something one would want to do.)

Take it as a possibility which has been shown to you, not that it is a fertile ground for you to try to exercise your will, but rather that there are still boundaries of properity that one should not cross.

Had it been my dream, instead of trying to do things which I know will lead to success in life, I would have visited a mountain valley with a stream, the sun shining as I hiked up from the valley to the cool air mountaintop, smelling the flowers along the way, listening to the birds in flight, seeing the grass grow greener, then having a clear glass of cold water.

    But that's just me...

Heh I don't know. If I really knew I was dreaming, or was more aware of it, I probably would have done different things with the dream, but maybe some part of me wants to smoke weed and drive a car... lol

Hey.Interesting that you say the dream faded when you tried to concentrate.Carlos Castenada talks about this(in the "art of dreaming" i think)and says that you have to constantly keep looking at other things to keep the scene going. He also says that this can only be acheived once you know in your dream that you are dreaming.I have heaps of trouble with this but you sound like a natural.

If you aren't already, you should start keeping a dream journal (just a journal where you write down what happened in your dreams each night). It helps get your conscious mind more focused and aware of the dreamin process and helps you become lucid during your dreams more often.

Speaking of which, I haven't written in my journal in a couple days. I need to do so. Dammit.
