I got a call back from Marlene's Market! They said that when I come home for the summer I should call and get in for an interview. Marlene's is this awesome natural food hip-type place in Tacoma. They want me to work in the deli, I think, but since when is learning how to make awesome organic vegetarian food a bad thing? I hope I get hired! Last summer working for a theater was terrible. I wonder how I'll handle working someplace that reflects my beliefs and values? I have a feeling I'll actually enjoy it, and feel none of the guilt I did last summer (working for a company that rips people off with crazy high prices and only served VERY unhealthy concessions was not good for the soul...). Anyway, just thought I'd share that with you all. I'm excited to be doing something for a summer "living" that will (sort of) have a more positive impact on the world than most workplaces. Anyone else planning on doing something great this summer, hanging out and having a good time, or what? ~Nova
One of my favorite jobs was working at People's Food in Solano Beach. They didn't pay anything except free food and good vibes(it was a non-profit).Lived in a treehouse overlooking the ocean anyway.Who needed money? You'll get it.They'll love your attitude.
I was a lifeguard last year. Yeecch, I hated it. So boring, and all we mostly did was pick up trash and sell candy to the youngins. Hell we didn't even have the proper equipment to perform mouth to mouth and what have you. Anywhoo, no job for me this summer. I might try to sell an autograph of Jesus on ebay to some dumbass.
That's pretty cool, NovaStarwind. I'm about to do the same thing. There's a place called Diane's Natural Foods Market near where I live. I called them a little while ago hoping to find a job, and they suggested I come in and fill out an application. Here's good luck to both of us.
