I used to absolutely rip people apart that bought into the huge Crocs fad. I don't know if it's still a fad or not, I don't see them as much as I used to. But I used to think they were soooooooo ugly and people were only buying into the fad... I even posted a thread in here a while back all about it. I'm embarassed to say that I was probably wrong in a lot of cases. I am humbled to admit that I too, am now a Croc fan. *blush* I hate to admit it, but they ARE damned comfy. I see what the big deal is now. I still don't think they will last nearly as long as Chacos, which are also pretty dang comfy too. But regardless, I actually bought a pair, much to my own dismay... and am now wearing them due to one of my feet being swollen in an injury and not being comfy in anything else (not even birks or chacos). And I've noticed that in my line of work, my feet are better protected against wheelchair wheels rolling over them than in the sandals. I still say the ones with the holes on top are butt ugly, but all the others aren't too bad appearance wise, at least not the black ones, which is what I got. So, without further ado, I officially apologize to other Croc fans out there. LOL
This debate has raged on, particularly with hikers. I have chacos (or a reasonable knock off) and they are amazingly comfy but believe it or not Crocs are lighter, which is a major consideration among hikers). So I'm really torn.
OK bree, I'll forgive you if you promise to wear them ONLY at work. (I'm the loudmouth Chaco preacher of the forums) Remember, they are also made in China, and I know I am particlular about which items I must get from there. But if your choice is leather nurses shes, I hear Crocs breate wonderfully AND they make good knee pads for gardening. I believe Chacos to be better engineered.
Chacos ARE better engineered. Unfortunately the straps aren't too friendly to a swollen injured foot. In fact the straps are what caused part of the injury to my foot - I was wearing them when I twisted my ankle the the straps pulled and sprained my toe. I have been mad at them, but I still love them, LOL I can wear whatever I want at work, which up to this point has been the chacos. Thank goodness! And my Crocs say something about colorado on them, are you SURE they are made in China?
Chacos are the best designed river-runner sandal on the planet. Crocs are ugly foam shoes. see pix and the company history here: http://www.crocs.com/company/history.jsp Bree, Crocs are a (Niwot/Louisville?) Colorado company that has them made in China. again, I think its a legit factory, but who knows in the Big 6? Niwot, BTW was an Arapaho man who refused to migrate to Oklahoma. thought you'd enjoy that, Bree.
Ah Chacos. My mum just sent mine. Lately I've been more in the flip-flop mood though lately... Crocs are basically overpriced Water Clogs which cost $12 CDN.
i've never known what those (crocs) were called until now. i wear them sometimes, they're nice and airy. but it's only until i find a good pair of flip flops.
Maybe it's my foot injury causing the problems, but I've noticed that these Crocs provide NO support whatsoever. My feet hurt a lot at the end of an 8 hour day. Yet I had to wear them for 2 days due to one of my feet swelling. Today was the first day the swelling went down enough for me to put my chaco's back on, and I have to say, it's like going back to paradise for feet. Final opinion: Crocs are great for (very) short term wear or around the house or if you have a really swollen foot/feet. But I have found that Chaco's kick their butts in terms of support and foot health, big time. But still, I will no longer bash Croc lovers, which was the point of this thread, not to start another shoe vs. shoe thread lol.
I think that was because of the angle my foot was at. When I point my toes, the straps nearest my ankle loosen up until I stand up again. I have to make sure my foot is at a "standing" angle when I put my sandals on in the morning, otherwise when I stand up it chokes my foot. I also had the toe straps flattened under my toe and there was a lotta extra strap. LOL
Did you hav eextra strap removed? I 'm also looking at the strap left over. THey are supposed to be snug. that said I walk with mine loose unless I'm out off pavement.
I need the extra strap. When the toe loops up there's not much extra, especially if my feet are fat/swollen as is the case these days (weight gain and injury). When the toe loop's down, I'm usually wearing socks, so that still takes care of the extra strap. It works out nicely.
My clogs got destroyed at a festival, so the next day i went into the nearest town and bought some fake crocs for like 5 bucks. they worked nice... in a pinch. they dont have too much support... and they are sorta ugly. I splatted UV paint all over mine, and glued some light up stuff on them, so they look prettier now.
