for $50 we got a really nice couch, a bar w/ stools, a 19" TV and a twin bed. that's AWESOME. i think we've spent a grand total of $500 on furnishing our house. i bought two desks for $25. it's ridiculous.

no shit. there isn't a trashy piece of furniture in our entire house, and none of it cost us more than a hundred dollars. if you're willing to go without furniture for awhile and slowly build up your collection, you can be choosy and get screaming deals. i think the most we spent on anything here was our headboard that my husband splured on for like $200 just to surprise me.

well, since the girls and i are still stuck at my parents house for a little bit longer. it would be really hard to specifically look for something for our home. But that sure doesnt mean i cant look ahead and take it to my storage.

I like used stuff/good deals... I got my four poster canopy bedframe/headboard/footboard dealio for just over $300 Canadian, used, off of a for sale poster at my university :D :X It is le sexy, easy to put together and take apart when moving too, I can do the whole thing by myself if I have to

charles made up get a free dumpster couch the other day.... it's missing its bottom cushions and below that it's sunken in on the left side. lol, he wanted a gaming couch but damn is it ugly.... definitely a fixer-upper.

but kc, you have inspired me to start hitting garage/yard sales this weekend. we still need curtains and stuff.

Yes very correct that some great deals can be found and the bigger the city the better. Bought alot of tools at them and my kid has found so many brand new clothes, tags still on them for under $1.00 each. lol

Almost the only thing I buy from garage sales is old ass craftsman tools. Break, and they'll replace 'em. Can't beat it when you get a whoe brand new set of craftsman screwdrivers for $6 :D

You'll either break it or put it together in a faulty manner.
