Is Abbie Hoffman a credible writer? He has written many books hailed by publishers after his death. He is an activists wet dream. But can any average joe off the street understand what he is writing about or do they have to know who he is and what he stands for?

It always helps, when reading books similar to Abbie Hoffman's, to know more about the author other than the books he has written.

For example, I first read through "Revolution For The Hell Of It" thinking it was sloppily written book until I learned more about what inspired it, and what it caused.

I did not give Abbie Hoffman a second thought until I found an old copy of woodstock nation in my garage. That was how I learned about him, through his own books, and a bit through other yippie's books like Jerry Rubbins...

But I did not start reading knowing him and his beliefs- I learned about him and his beliefs from reading his books...and understood perfectly...

Really I think that's the best way to learn about Abbie Hoffman if a person knows nothing of him, his works are like a diary of revolutionary rants, they explain everything...Tell the stories he's famous for and map out his opinions...stuff to get the average joe off the street inspired...

i agree with the first two posts... and to me the way he writes is best. it gives off the energy he has. and the books weren't written to be read as normal books are. they were to give off energy and love and to light a fire inside all of us to get up and fight.
