does ANYONE know the band CAN? Ash Ra Tempel??? Amon Duul II??? Brainticket?! the Krautrock scene? ... if ye guys dont, love Pink Floyd, love mostly Ummagumma and Meddle, love weird crazy bizare songs, mostly long songs... well ye just gotta try those bands, and the Krautrock scene. 60-70's hippie period in Europe.
what he said^^^ but heres a full list of the best ones in my opinion : CAN SOUNDTRACKS, Ege Bamyasi, Future Days, Monster Movie and Tago Mago Make Tago Mago your first, awesome album
I've heard some Ash Ra Temple, but I didn't enjoy it all that much. I had a big compilation of their stuff downloaded on my computer, but I actually ended up deleting it just because it didn't really appeal to me. I've been trying to find Can albums for the longest time, and I actually just today found Monster Movie at a local store. I didn't have money for it, though, so I'm planning on going back for it.
ya well compilations are never good, i would recommend the early stuff, before 1973. ye never know what ye get in compilations... and most of the times its their shortest crappiest songs, but check out Seven-up , Schwingungen, Starring Rosi, albums like that.
Well, it wasn't like a 'greatest hits' thing; I think it was their private tapes or something like that. And the songs definitely weren't short; they seemed to be about 20 minutes on average. I might give them another listen sometime, though.
glad to hear and rainbowskyedlover... Ash Ra Tempel is like... imagine the early pink floyd (not super early, Ummagumma-Meddle phase...) imagine that but, just the psychedelia of those... the crazyness and trippiness and ambient sound ... they also have bluesy roots on some albums, but if you check out schwingungen , seven-up, albums like those... its just the most crazy psychedelic/space stuff you''ll ever have the chance to hear. its also a bit indianish at times and the voice is very haunting.
sounds bloody interesting, i only know one song of can which sounds pretty normal, poppy. that direction. i didn't like it enough to dig further through the krautrock scene, but your describtions do. tnx
