Baby Boomers......

I am confused....so in Australia, a "baby boomer" is a certain lyfestyle?

Over here, a baby boomer is a person born during the years 1946-1964. They can be any class at all, not just rich. The children of the baby boomers are known as generation X, born from the 1960's to early 1980's....

What years were your parents' born in that make them NOT baby boomers?

 

I'm part of Generation X.......

 

Over here, baby boomers were the generation born from the end of WWII up until the mid 50s. After that, parents became less horny i guess. My parents were born in the early 60s. And generation X was actually in the 90s.

 

Over generalization of an entire generation, eh?

How are working people taking away your rights?

How can a generation of working people the age of your parents cause the economic insecurity in your country?

Corporate greed, outsourcing of jobs to foreign countries with cheaper labor, maybe has something to do with it?

Where I live in the US unemployment and home foreclosures are at a 55 year historical high. MANY boomers have and are losing their jobs due to jobs being sent OVERSEAS to India, Brazil, China. The major corporation my husband works for has sent 35,000 jobs to India and Brazil in the past few years--which means 35,000 American workers lost their jobs.

FREE EDUCATION??? NOT HERE. Worked years to pay off the $58,000 student loan debt. In USA, a college education is available to ANYBODY willing to apply for grants, scholarships, LOANS. Poverty level to wealthy.

SO, when they all retire, sell their big cars and houses, and their jobs are available...WHAT? Do you mean YOU will step in and take their place? OR???

 

i'm a part of what is called that boomer generation over here in the u.s. most hippies were.

i don't own a house of much of anything else. guess cause i was too busy about what was more important to me then getting rich when i guess i was supposed to have been.

born a couple of decades too soon to get in on the tecnonerd thing and one to late to ride interurbans.

going home and having sex is what solders do when wars are over, that's why they never perminently reduce population but if anything over stimulate its explosion.

it also ment though that by shere numbers, when we were in highschool and college we had collectively a certain amount of political clout, knew it, and mostly used it to good ends. which is why of course other generations feared us and certain governmental and other interests attempted to sabotage our moral credibility with the whole drug thing.

Baby Boomers ruined america, they have only cared about themselves and always will. Take Bush for example. typical boomer

 

Geez, Calm down, though I suppose I should take my own advice.

Realise that i'm talking about the situation in Australia and that I never once suggested or tried to impose some good or bad picture on whats happenning in the United States.

Essentially the deal over here is that a generation of people who had comparitively good career, economic and educational opportunites are working almost sociopathically to remove the same benefits from us. John "Rich are getting richer but the poor aren't getting any poorer" Baby Boomer Howard is the perfect archetype.

Of course I know there are many, many exceptions to the rule, but nobody ever reads disclaimers and i'll probably suffer another barrage of abuse.
