Does anyone have suggestons for how to position your hands? With my left hand.. I just have such a hard time being coordinated and quick, I think there must be something wrong with what I'm doing.. and with my right hand, it seems like I should be anchoring it somewhere, but I often end up putting it on the bridge and that's annoying because i accidentally push down on the tremolo a lot. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if there is just something wrong with me... I see so many people who don't play as much as I do who play yet they play much better than I do. I'm getting to where I don't even like to watch people play guitar anymore because it's so frustrating to see them do things so easily. and I especially don't like having other guitarists watch me play. Any suggestions? I've been playing for years... but maybe there's something wrong with my fundamental skills. I never had lessons or anything.
Lessons help some people. I sort of rest the underside of my arm on the body of my guitar and then just pick the strings over the pickups, ya know what i mean? There's two main ways that you can position your left hand...the "correct way" or what some people call the "hendrix way". I use the hendrix way and that's where your thumb comes above the neck and then there is the correct way which is where your thumb is on the back of the neck the whole time. Just practice, practice, practice. If after alot of practicing, you still aren't making progress and you just don't enjoy it...maybe sell your guitar and try a new instrument.
