Why do I always have such bad dreams? Pretty much every night I have violent, scary, upsetting dreams or dreams of death and disaster. It's been like this for a few years, so it's not a recent thing. Sometimes they are so intense I wake up feeling exhausted. I dont recall ever having a pleasant dream, do people actually have nice dreams?
Watching TV these days will give anyone nightmares like you are describing! Including so-called TV news, which isn't very accurate or reliable anymore anyway. Get out more. Go to concerts where you feel comfortable, and you'll meet people who give you nice dreams.
Well I don't watch that much tv, and if I watch a film or something my dreams rarely seem to be influenced much by them. And why do you assume that i do not go out much?
they have a valid point. Your dreems are directly influenced by your life exsperiences. Try to get away from your everyday life. Take a break or vacation. You need to take in some positive energy.
You may very well be experiencing some pretty nasty stuff when you're awake, and it all comes out during your dreams. You may have some fear or some worry that you aren't processing very well when you're awake; that's not always TV or movies. It can be worry about your job or your relationships or other stuff.
Yeh well I guess I've been feeling quite strange for a while, I'm just disillusioned with everything in this world at the moment. I am ignoring it and pretending that I'm fine so maybe my mind is just trying to tell me something. And to ZenMunchy, yeh I'm not getting a lot of positive energy at the moment mainly because I'm not happy where I am at the moment but I'm finishing this year of uni in a couple weeks and going back home, I've got an exciting summer ahead of me so hopefully I'll snapout of this soon!
You may have some psychological problem from way back that you need to work out. Dreams are always connected to experience, and to personal issues. The experiences may be very transformed, but if you think about things that happen in your dreams, you can often find similarities to things that have happened in your waking experience. Other times, the dreams are more symbolic, such as dreams of flying. If you were more specific about your dreams, maybe we could help you more. Good luck!
dreams are often interesting ways of our subconscous telling us things. they can be and sometimes are influences by ambient sounds that obviously you don't consciously hear while sleeping. many of us also live in cultures that defacto romantacise aggressiveness, or are at very least indefferent to stressess caused by misplaced priorities. few if any of my dreams are ever voilently unpleasant, so yes, people, or at least myself do have "nice" dreams. which is not to say banal or conventional ones. gratuitous conventionality as an end in and of itself, is little if any nicer then violent aggressiveness. which, i suppose, is the point of making entertainmant about it. such entertainments are of course NOT conducive to enjoyable and gratifying dreams. anything you can see as likely to reduce the causing of this unpleasantness is quite likely to be of some help in doing so. dreamcatchers are good, as is putting mint under your pillow, but for gosh sake don't have 'rap' music playing to fall asleep to! if you live where some other idiot insists on having that or the damd televison going when you are falling asleap or attempting to, anything you can do to try and encourage them not to is likely to help too. =^^= .../\...
hey, thanks for your advice guys. to themnax i wouldn't consider nice dreams to be banal, I would love to have 'nice' dreams! Well I guess more positive thoughts and surrounding myself in a more positive atmosphere and stopping worrying so much will help! Easier said then done I suppose. Last night I dreamt that a plane crashed very close to me and my friend and blew up and the wreckage and fire was coming towards us and we had to run for our life. I also remember thinking that poeple I knew were on the plane. ugh, i am so fed up with these dreams!!!
